From the VS site...install their shopping toolbar by 20 feb 2012 for 250 miles:
http://shop.virgin-atlantic.com/moreinfo/pgwebapp_install
Then make a purchase via the portal by 25 march 2012 for another 250 miles.
Cheapest is usually an ebay low value purchase....

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when this was first released?
I don't think I'm going to install it personally as it is likely to be sending browsing data so that they know you still have it installed and I value my privacy more than 500 miles.
Also, I note you need to accept the terms and conditions in order to download it, yet there is no link to any specific terms and conditions regarding the toolbar.
Although the general terms and conditions mention this clause which I find slightly concerning to say the least:
5.3 You consent to us disclosing to third parties information that you have provided (or that we have obtained from you) about your account and/or shopping behaviour.
(This forum really doesn't get that much traffic does it?)
Thanks

That is why you install it on a VM and only ever use that VM for shopping.

Well I just installed it in Opera, a browser I don't use unless it's for something like this. My 500 miles are now 'in progress' and will go towards trying out their new Upper Class product when it's launched.

Opera..damn shoulda thought of that, I installed it last night on ie. Where do you see the "in progress" bit, on your virgin aco...., or the shops away account ? .I did an order, but the only thing I can see, is in my shopping history, a record of the viking "click".

You should see it appear in purchase report after a few days, under My Shopping History, on the Shops Away page.

Since it's the same folks who run the BAEC and Avios.com eStores, I expect they will just ignore you for the next 40 days, which has been my experience with them.
You will probably need to email them again after this period has elapsed.
PURCHASE REPORT
On this page you can view details of the retailers you have purchased with and the status of your Flying Club miles. You can also view a list of retailers who you have recently clicked on. If you are missing Flying Club miles from a Flying Club Online Shopping transaction and it is 40 days since you made your purchase, click here to fill out a Missing Flying Club miles enquiry form.

You could always try installing it again in a new browser?

chistery sorry for being slow -- do you mean you have an installation of Opera that you only use for things like this, or that Opera has some security features that are particularly useful in this scenario?

Indeed, howver at least the first 250 miles is nothing to do with shopping, just installing the plugin. Will see if I get ANYTHING from them, if not, will try the route of installing it under opera.

Not sure if this helps at all but I made a purchase on ebay. 2 points appeared as "Pending" in my shopping history and a couple of days later I got 250 bonus points also pending. It might be worth waiting a couple of days.
Still, no sign of the other 250 points yet!

It's bad form replying to my own post but I thought I'd mention that another 250 bonus miles have appeared in Shops Away purchase report dated 7 days after my ebay purchase.

My first 250 miles, which are dated 25/1 just posted on my FC account, dated 26/02, so looks like it takes about a month for them to appear in your FC account.
