Does anyone have any insight into how Avis rates change from day to day?
I tried to make an online booking at the Tours, France location for a weekend at the end of March on Monday. The request was declined by email the following day because the 'Subject to Availability' car class I chose was unavailable. I went back to the site on Tuesday to book something else and the prices were the same as they had been on Monday, but (with hindsight, unfortunately) I didn't do so.
Returning to the Avis site yesterday and again today, I made the same location/dates selection and am now being quoted rates that are 60%-100% higher than they were Mon/Tues this week.
Have I missed the boat, or do the quoted rates move down as well as up in such a dramatic fashion?
