I couldn't think of a better way to post my 1000th post on FT... So here goes my emotional rant....
I've never flown AY, haven't heard the most amazing things (nor anything majorly negative)... however this video brought a true smile to my face.
Yes its a bit on the cheesy side of life, but as an Indian - having a foreign carrier acknowledge a moment of historic significance in a fun, thoughtful and light hearted manner that celebrates so much of what is great about India (the energy, the life, color, music - the true sensory experience that makes India, India) was so wonderful. To quote another oneworld carrier of which I am a huge fan (CX) - it's the little things that count.

We are all (myself included) ready to go at our airlines for their failings, jump at our spectacular government for the way they run the show etc etc... But when you come to think of how young civil aviation is in our country and you look at overall the quality of offering from low cost to full service, from regional to international - we haven't done so bad. No doubt - this is FT - we will continue to criticize and judge - but I found this a wonderful reminder and celebration of things we have done right.
I know - its just a dance to a bollywood song - and maybe I'm getting a bit over the top... but to all my fellow desis - Happy Republic Day! Jai Hind! Vande Mataram....

Jai Hind...

just came back from the Indian embassy lunch celebration of Republic Day here in Brazil, where, with the Ambassadors kind permission, I showed the Finnair video to a few of the diplomatic community invited. The Finnish Ambssador was the hero of the hour, I can tell you!

Glad to know I am not the only one who had that kind of response to the video...^
