This could be quite significant:

Blue Panorama has 737s and 767s:
http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Blue%20Panorama%20Airlines.htm
Windjet has 319s and 320s:
http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Windjet.htm
Windjet could easily turn into additional fleet and bases for Air One, while BV could add to the international and intercontinental fleet. It also serves interesting long haul destinations that are currently missing from the AZ network: Cuba, Mexico, Antigua, Aruba, Jamaica, Colombia, Kenya Tanzania, Thailandia, Myanmar.

Wow thats pretty much "it" then. Pretty much just Meridiana and Air Dolomiti left.. Ok there are some more but not much...

Yeah, and on most routes this creates a monopoly, or reduces choices from 4 to 2 in some cases.

I believe that it will be a healthy consolidation, as long as the anti-trust monitors and rules - decently.
2-3 stronger players, truly competitors, able to invest and run a sustainable business.
Will this push Meridiana towards a partnership with the Oneworld carriers?

:eek::eek:
Unexpected although plausible; could be excellent news, these were relatively medium-sized carriers. Now two main airlines in Italy:
1. Alitalia+Air One+WindJet+Blu(+VE)
2. Meridiana+Air Italy(+GJ)
How did this manage to stay hidden until now!? And how will the merger work?

We were talking about airlines, not cattle wagons... :p

as a side note, I find it funny that the only Alitalia picture the Ansa site can come up with - is of a 747. In which century were they dismissed from Alitalia fleet?

Heh, really. 2004, IIRC.
