Have you been to Legoland Florida yet? How is it? Can you compare it to any of the other Legoland parks?
I'd particularly interested in seein a trip report from someone in the "serious Lego fanatic" category (as opposed to parents with very young kids), as I've got one of those at my house :D and he can't wait to see the new park.
Haven't been yet, but went to the one in San Diego and it was great.

Haven't been yet, but went to the one in San Diego and it was great. We've been to the ones in Carlsbad and Billund and loved them. However, the Legoland park in Windsor gets consistently negative reviews, which surprised me at first, but for a couple years now the negative reviews on it outnumber the positives, so we've given it a pass. I'm looking for more info on the Florida park because of the bad reputation of Windsor - it's pretty clear not all Legoland parks are run to the same standard, and I want more info before deciding on a trip to Florida.

Hmmm..... We live about an hour from Windsor and take our three kids (6, 4 and 2) there on a very regular basis. They love it, so that's all the endorsement I need.
The park had a rubbishing on national TV over a wasp problem a couple of years back and being in the UK the weather is unpredictable. It's also an expensive day out if you just show up at the gate, but there's always offers to be had (like 2-4-1 admission via a wide range of channels...)
I can't see (other than the weather) what would set it that far apart from the one in California, which we visited a few years back with the older two. We intend to visit the Florida one in April.

Weather wasn't much mentioned. I'm guessing you'd disagree?
Please report back on the Florida park - number/quality of attractions, overall impressions would be appreciated.

I have friends who work at the park. I have not been in, but have seem pictures of the LEGO structures. They appear to be pretty spectacular.
The rides are geared toward young kids and there is a water park opening in May.

OK, feedback time:
Park was OK - high ticket prices and it didn't have that much lego theming going on. More like an amusement park with some lego here and there - I never went to Cypress Gdns but wonder how much ended up forming the new park.
Parking prices also seemed steep - can you really charge $14 a day when there's no real alternatives around?
It was mighty warm that day and shade seemed limited. Also closing build & test until 3.30pm for school groups does seem to miss the point a bit.
I'd be hard pressed to say it was better than the UK venue, however.
Happy to take q's by PM or whatever.
Thanks

I cannot compare to otherLegoland parks, but we enjoyed our visit and kept the kids busy for 7 hours.
Look online for coupons (eBay or Legoland), to assist with entry and parking. Both are overpriced based on other parks in the area.

I know a few people who have gone. The consensus is that it's really geared toward kids, more so than the other parks here in Central Florida, and that it's not worth the money as an adult without kids. They had also gone to the one in Carlsbad and felt that one was significantly better.

We went with a school group for my 9 yo and I'd say that's about the age limit of enjoyment. Older kids might think it's ok for a bit, but the rides were *really* small and cramped. I'm small and all of the rides were uncomfortable for me to go on side by side with my friend's small 8yo girl.
I went to Cypress Gardens probably 10 years ago and feel that it's a rebadged version for sure, right down to the cheesy/poorly acted water ski show, with some Legos thrown in. If not a big Lego fan, to be entertained with some of the Lego theme as a distraction, then the park isn't worth full price admission or parking.
