DH is on flight #332 from MCO - BDL today. Purchased ticket about 10 days ago. On the itinerary it said unassigned seat. He's staying at Hyatt so he prints out his boarding pass this AM before heading downstairs and it says "STANDBY"... was he bumped from the flight? The flight's delayed now by an hour. What are his rights/compensation? Need to find out from the experts here on FT, don't want him to take this lying down. He needs to get home tonight. Next flight is around 8ish tonight. He doesn't have any status with JetBlue though is Plat. w/AA. I originally mentioned to him last night if they are offering bumps to consider, not thinking he would get involuntary.
What should I advice him.
TIA
Carolyn

There won't be a bump. JetBlue doesn't overbook as a matter of policy.

The lack of seat assignment is almost certainly what triggers the "standby" bit on the BP. And likely the only seats still available are EML seats which would require pay. Otherwise he'll get the seat assignment at the gate.

I was on a LGB-JFK flight a couple years back that got overbooked by a computer glitch the ground staff was all freaked out.

I think if you manage to get overbooked on B6 (aka they need your seat so that a pilot could get someplace), you would get 1000$ (and get to your destination) . Of course the lottery odds may be better then this.
