A HIV + buddy of mine will be traveling to DXB for a business meeting in a few weeks. Are there any special issues with entering the UAE with HIV medication? Does anybody have any RECENT experiences with this one? Issues/concerns/precautions?

Having travelled frequently i havent seen a singlentime that they bother checking luggage, either on way in or out. If you enter they screen your luggage but i have never seen them opening anything. On way out dont bother with putting bag with liquids or laptop out. They just dont care. The pad down is equally meaningless if you trigger the alarm.
As a general comment, the UAE are mainly hypocritical. So dont worry. As long as you spend moneynand are discrete, nobody will ask.

When traveling to foreign countries the best thing for 'your friend' to do would be put his HIV medication in a different - separate (not mixed with other meds) - prescription bottle, say for Lipitor or something else, with his name and info on it. Just to be 100% certain.

Those going through luggage do not know what pills look like what, etc. However, there may be a one in a million chance even in UAE or wherever that they may know what Atripla or another HIV medication was if they saw the label.

Thanks for all the info. I have dealt with a lot of travel situations but I was stumped when he asked me this one.
