Virgin Australia Velocity - SYD-MEL Business Class trip report

Yesterday I flew SYD-MEL in the new Business class and was very impressed. It was an after dinner flight and I really enjoyed the pre-departure mocktail, which was a concoction of cranberry, lime, and cinnamon. Service was excellent, and the cheese platter was delicious.
Business class was roped off from coach, and because I was the only passenger in the cabin, I felt guilty to have the use of the lavatory all to myself. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable guilt.
My only grumble is that the seat does not recline very far. It would be difficult to sleep comfortably.
Overall, kudos to VA on a very nice product.
Thanks for sharing. How funny you were the only person in Biz! Surely there were a few Golds/Plats on board they could have upgraded....so much for their spokesman saying they were going to op up loyal customers to try the new product!
Everyone I know has raved about the mocktail...I look forward to trying it in a couple of weeks!

I posted last year about how disappointing the J seat recline on the 738 was - not a bird I would want to transcont or INT on in J for any long (over 2 hours) flight.

There still seems to be a lack of reports on what the meals are like as opposed to the snacks, good info above regardless! I am hoping to at least provide an insight into Lunch next Wednesday for my BNE-SYD flight.
I flew SYD-BNE in J on Friday night and the dinner service was fantastic! The crew really seemed to be enjoying the service change and were all very attentive.
The main was a choice between Moroccan Lamb with rice or some pasta dish. I was traveling with my partner and there was only 1 pasta dish available with 4 people in the cabin. Needless to say we both opted for the lamb anyway but I guess they're not over catering a great deal. The lamb was tender and a sachet of dukkah was provided. The tray also had a salad with balsamic and olive oil dressing and chocolate toffee macadamia nuts. A hot soy and linseed roll was also served and there was a bottle of olive oil and dish to use. Quite a nice touch!
The wine selection was good with a choice of 2 reds and 2 (maybe 3) whites. I opted for the riesling and that went down very well. A huge step up from the menu wines. The bottle was presented before pouring the wine and sparkling or still water was offered.
Looking foward to BNE- SYD tonight!
