We'll be traveling in J from LAX to SCL on 2/28 on LAN's 767-300. We have row 2, seats J & L. SeatMaestro shows only 3 rows in J. Seatguru shows 5 rows. I'm assuming with all the talk about LAN taking away some J rows, SeatMaestro seat map is correct. We've had those seats for months. Should we be concerned about having them taken away? Should we get to the airport early to ensure we keep those seats? If so, how early should we arrive?

Is it direct or via LIM?

I went on LA600 from SCL to LIM fling onwards to LAX a couple of weeks ago and a) Premium Business had lots of rows of seats and b) they were all empty.

I am sure david_33 can enlighten you better

Is this an AA award?
If so, how did you ever manage to land it? I have been checking awards for this Dec for about 2 months now (too early to book yet) but all I see is connections in MIA or JFK - no awards on LAX to SCL direct.

That is the temporary new direct flight which LAN is trying out. I have no idea if it has the mini J cabin like the LAN Peru flights.

It is on LA metal, which so far, remains all 5 rows. 602/603 has come and gone for many years, and the only regularity about it has been its irregularity. As long as they only have a 763 for it, it must be severely cargo weight-restricted, making its operational desirability fairly limited.

These are 2 AA award seats... and getting 2 J seats on LAN to SCL, became my obsession! I started checking LAN flights 331 days out. It was frustrating to see flights available on LAN, weeks before I could book them through AA. Originally booked LAX-JFK-SCL, with the SCL flight on LAN. Then Flt. 601 LAX-LIM-SCL came available and changed flights for $150pp. I knew about Flt. 603 and knew it was seasonal at best. I kept looking and about 5 months ago it showed up. Called AA and asked how much it would be to switch... the answer was zero! I figure an out-of-pocket expense of $300 for 2 J seats, non-stop to SCL, was a no brainer.

It would seem to be a good strategy for those hoping to use upgrade coupons or Commodore benefit for a LIM-LAX or LAX-LIM flight, to book on the flights which originate or end in SCL the days that 602/603 flies.
