Hi there
I was thinking of booking this hotel for Feb. I got my platinum card in the mail (courtesy of the platinum link from prior posts). What are my chances of getting an upgrade in room and/or compl. breakfast?
Thank you for your help/input.

Sorry. I forgot to add: would it make any difference if I were to book through Agoda? I have some credit with Agoda and would I to use it up.
Thanks very much.

I don't think Ibis gives out plat benefits.
Not even Grand Mercure in SG.

0% chances on both upgrade (to what?!?) and breakfast.

Aside from a variation in whether the room has two single beds or a double bed, I don't think there is anything else that differentiates the rooms - they are all pretty much the same. Nothing to really upgrade you to.
As for breakfast - pretty unlikely to get a comp for this.
As of today, you will not be enjoying ANY platinum benefit in Singapore until MAYBE early 2013 when Sofitel So Singapore start their operation
0% chances on both upgrade (to what?!?) and breakfast.
To a corner room maybe? :p

Thank you very much for your opinions. I guess since there's no benefits, I might as well use Agoda to book this hotel and use up the credit.

Try high floor, away from lifts etc. Maybe you get better views.

Views are what they are at this property, blah. Lifts are slow, too.
It used to be my preferred hotel in Singapore, but the cost increased substantially relative to other options. Now I'd usually rather pay the extra for the Novotel or Mercure Roxy unless they've both hiked their prices - both have gyms and pools, and I think the Roxy even has a laundry room similar to the Ibis's. The breakfast at the Ibis isn't really great, and the hotel is situated a bit of a walk from the nearest MRT stations (Bugis or Little India).
In general at Accor properties in Singapore, the scratch-and-win offering is good - at least 5% off, internet included (but it is free anyway in Ibis), breakfast included and a bus tour I've never taken thrown in.
I also like how all three of these properties are within VERY short walking distance of a 7-11 (same building for Ibis and Novotel, over the bridge for the Mercure).

A-Club is the least generous hotel membership program ever... you don't get anything unless you stay at Pullman, Sofitel or M Gallery if I'm not mistaken...
About the Ibis Bencoolen, its situation is not bad, the closest MRT is Bras Basah. Of course if you want Little India or Bugis, it's waaaaaay too far of a walk in the heat and humidity :)

Bugis is closer than Bras Basah, I think.

Thanks for this...how does one get the scratch-and-win price? Is this still going on?

It seems to be over now. Shame, it was a good deal.
I stayed at the Mercure Roxy for S$10 less than the Ibis was charging, last week ($178++ vs $188++) - of course, internet is charged in the Roxy, and the Roxy is not close to an MRT (but there's an express bus to Suntec and then on to Orchard).

Using a Le Club/A-Club Gold or Platinum card at check-in, I *sometimes have been given a drink voucher at Ibis hotels. And possibly a higher floor, although this has never been stated - might just have been chance.
