Thailand - 12-hour layover at BKK...at night. What to do?

I have a flight next month from KUL to REP, with almost a 12-hour layover at BKK from 11:15pm-11:35am. Just wondering if there's anything to see/do during that time late at night/early morning since I'm worried that the sights that I would like to see (Wat Saket, Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha, Wat Arun, etc.) would be closed during that time. I'll also have my laptop carry-on bag which would be a pain to bring along, is there any place to store it if I do choose to go sightseeing?
I'm also worried if transportation to/from BKK as well as to/from sights would be closed or limited since it would be night time. Any suggestions would be helpful since I don't really want to just spend 12 hours at the airport.

There is a left luggage place in the arrivals area in the airport if you decide to head into town.
The train is very easy to get into the city if you opt for that though I cannot speak to what would be open at that time.
I recently had a 12 hour layover from 1pm to 1 am - went ahead and booked a room at the Novotel to get reorganized. Went into the city via skytrain, had dinner then back to the hotel to get a few hours sleep before our redeye to PVG.
edit: - looks like the skytrain doesn't operate between midnight and 6am

Aah, that's good to know there's a left luggage place. Too bad about the train, I guess I'll have to take a cab. I'll have to do research at the Novotel since I may want to sleep for a couple of hours too. Thanks for the info. :)

I guess wat Saket/wat Arun/wat Po can be visited as of 6am, Grand palace opens 08.30
Your problem will be to return to Suvarnabhumi airport around 9am, it's 25km from Wat Saket, Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha, Wat Arun. Heavy traffic to reach Phaya Thai or Makasan stations for the airport rail link.
A cheaper option than the Novotel at the airport might be to book an off airport hotel, they offer free rides to/from the terminal, have some food at their open restaurant (if the have 24h service) and get some sleep.
I doubt you will be able to see some of BKK highlights, unless you want to taste street night life on lower Sukhumvit when all bars are closed after 1am.

Thanks for the info. :) Yeah, I thought about seeing something right when it opens, but the visit would be incredibly rushed and I don't want to deal with the traffic going to BKK and hoping that I don't miss my flight.
I've decided to throw in the towel for sightseeing and just get a hotel and rest, that way I'll feel refreshed the next day since I'll be busy touring around the Angkor Archaeological Park. I appreciate your suggestions though. :D

I'm coming in on TG931 from CDG and then taking the night flight to SYD. I have an 11.5 hour layover. I was planning on catching 3-4 hours of sleep in the F lounge then going into down before coming back for my pre-flight massage. My questions are:
- Take a taxi or the train into town? If the train, which stop do I want to get off at to be centrally located?
- Any suggestions for a quick lunch in a convenient wandering area?
- How long roughly will transit to and from the airport take?
- Anything else...I've never been to Bangkok before. I'll be back several times over the next few months so I don't need to get too aggressive today. Just want to leave the airport for lunch and a walk really.
Thanks!
