Browsing the Aegean website and trying to find award availability for LHR-ATH this summer (ultimately unsuccessful but thats another story..) and came across the following T & C for upgrade awards...

Now I know that they have a reputation for being generous (:D), but the way I read this. You can upgrade 4 people on an international flight (OW)to Business class for 10,000 miles.... Really..???

Just wondered if anyone has actually managed to do this or whether its just poor wording and I am mistaken

To find out the miles you would need for redeeming upgrades on Aegean flights please use the award chart below:

Miles redemption for seat upgrade on Aegean flights

Domestic
International
One-way 5.000 award miles 10.000 award miles
Round trip 10.000 award miles 20.000 award miles

Please note:

Seat Upgrade Award is available on both Domestic and International flights operated by Aegean
Miles earned for travel using upgrade award will be based on the original class of the service purchased.
Seat Upgrade Award can be booked up to 24 hours prior to the respective flight departure and is subject to business class availability.
Each Seat Upgrade request is for max.4 passengers and 1 flight segment.
Seat Upgrade Award can only be booked via Aegean's Reservations Department( 801 11 20000 or +30 210 62 61 000)

Well, you could read this slightly differently: it is still 10,000 per passenger, but you can handle 4 passengers with a single request and for only one segment. ;)

Is it clearer in the Greek version?

Is it clearer in the Greek version?

Κάθε αίτημα Αναβάθμισης Κατηγορίας Θέσης αφορά μια διαδρομή (segment) και μπορεί να εξυπηρετήσει έως και 4 επιβάτες ανά κράτηση."Every request for upgrade concerns one segment and can serve up to 4 passengers per booking". It is not the best Greek syntax and my "word-for-word" translation also demonstrates that I'm not a professional translator (;)); nevertheless I still believe that what they really mean is not that you get it "cheaper" by upgrading more than one passenger. But I can't guarantee that this is indeed correct, and maybe cmdsea is indeed right.

You silly rabbit.. :D You know this sounds too good to be true.. or otherwise we have to start a new thread for pooling FTers in group of 4 for upgrade http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.flyertalk.com/get/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

I had to call and ask..!! :D

Unfortunately, the cost in the charts is per person!! The wording is kind of misleading, but they mean that you can upgrade up to 4 pax (paying 4x the miles on the chart)! :(
