I am about to book the following routing FRA-BKK-PNH and for the return NRT-ZRH-FRA on LX.

I would book the return on LX only to try their new C product out of NRT. My booking would be in V class and I want to upgrade using eVouchers.

However with the new waitlisting thing going on at LH, I am a little cautious nowadays. If I do not get the upgrade confirmed, there is absolutely no point in flying LX (its at least 180€ more expensive, compared to LH direct).

Can anyone comment on the chances of that happening before I go to ticketing? J cabin is still wide open showing J9 C9 D9 Z9.

Many thanks!

Why do you have to fly NRT-ZRH-FRA on the way back? Have you checked the price for BKK-ZRH-FRA? All LX 343s have the new C, and flying back from BKK via ZRH might be cheaper. If you fly FRA-ZRH-BKK on the way out as well it might even be cheaper.

I don't think there's been any suggestion of waitlisting for C upgrades or on LX. All the reports of waitlisting IIRC have been for LH F.

Why don't you try booking online on swiss.com, go straight to www.miles-and-more.com/starupgrade and try upgrading the segment you want to upgrade. If an upgrade option is not offered you can call LX within 24 hours and ask for the reservation to be cancelled without charge.

Sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear enough ;)

I am actually in Japan 2 weeks before heading back to Germany. However, due to uncertainty of timing, I will book the PNH to Japan segment seperately (and also for some strange reason the ticket always priced a higher total when I included the PNH-KIX segment).

But I will call my TA tomorrow and have him issue the ticket. Then I will directly call LX for the upgrade and if it doesn't clear within 24h I will reissue the ticket and take the NRT-FRA direct on LH ;)

Probably too late, but it's very simple to find out whether your flight can be upgraded: just make a dummy award booking.
