Other North & South America Frequent Flyer Programs - TAM fares much higher now due to LAN merger, or another reason?

For the past couple of years I've been thinking about a vacation in Brazil, and flying GIG-IGU-GRU would be part of my itinerary. I checked the GIG-IGU-GRU itinerary May-June last year and May-June in 2010 on Kayak.com and the TAM website and it was around $185-200 every time on TAM both years. Now it's around $280-400 on TAM for May-June. I was thinking it had something to do with the LAN-TAM merger this year, but not sure.
Maybe the TAM fare will get cheaper as we get closer to May, or not likely?

They do promotions quite often. Not sure if they are visible on the Brazilian site only

Possibly, if bookings aren't good - but the fuel surcharges right now are probably quite high with the current oil price.

FYI there are NO YQ's of any kind on tickets originating from/within Brazil.
Both Tam and Gol has different prices depending whether the ticket is purchased SITI/SOTO. OP should check both carriers Brazilian websites periodically.
