KLM Flying Dutchman - KLM policy on gate checked luggage

Does anyone know what KLM's policy is on gate checked luggage? Are Elites exempted from it? I can remember something like that stated on the website for Cityhopper flights but can't find anything.

Any info appreciated.

Some time ago they asked me to check it - after I told them I was flying business I could take it on board though. That was a cityhopper PRG-AMS flight.

Not quite sure what the official policy is regarding to elites. Interesting question though..

When travelling on KLC flights FB elites are always allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage provided it fits the dimensions.
It should be stated on the KLM website under hand luggage if I am correct.

My experience is that you sometimes have to remind the gate staff that you are an elite member and are thus allowed to bring a piece of hand luggage when they try to get to gate-check your bag.
