Myself and my partner are going on a trip to BKK and coming back from DEL leaving from and arriving back to GVA. So far so good....
Having priced and asked all the questions about availability I bought GVA - ZRH - BKK in Y and DEL - ZRH - GVA in J
I requested had asked a number of times if the outbound sectors were available for upgrade, to which the reply was YES availability is wide open...
So on Sunday night I paid up Tickets were issued and phoned back to do the GVA - ZRH - BKK upgrade, which miles and more were showing at 65k miles pp...
I was told you can not upgrade GVA - ZRH
So I am left with an itinerary which looks like this
GVA _ ZRH Y
ZRH - BKK C
DEL - ZRH C
ZRH - GVA C
This is not what I wanted ...
additional insult the Baggage allowance for the two outbound sectors is set at the lower Y level
There is not a lot I can do now... just feel I have been missold
Just needed to vent
Thanks for listening

I wouldn't care too much abt gva-zrh which is a 30min flight. Additionaly, I don't know how it workes with upgrs wide miles but with evouchers the feeder flights are never included.
Also I don't think that LX will make a big fuss at checkin regarding the baggage allowance since your longhaul flight is in confirmed C.

Exactly. Feeder flight is not included in miles / voucher upgrade. And you will get C Class luggage allowance.

Feeder flights are not included in miles/voucher upgrades only if the feeder flight is a cross-border flight. Intra-German, intra-swiss or intra-austrian flights are included for no extra miles (see M&M upgrade regulations). I am upgrading frequently my ZRH-US flights and always get the ZRH-GVA or GVA-ZRH segment upgraded as well. This should happen automatically. Unfortunately, some of the phone agents do not know this rule, but when you tell them they usually check with their supervisor or read the rules and upgrade the feeder segment.

Thank you for your comments...
I was more upset about not having lounge access for the wait at GVA than anything else that I may or may not have on the very short GVA - ZRH sector and the risk of being in the very back of the bus, which as a claustrophobic flier stresses me out even 8 months out...
And the fact people had said they would look at it and get back to me and did not.....
Having said all that a lovely reservations agent today has sorted it all out.
And I am now a very happy bunny ^:):):)
Thank you again and I will keep you informed with a Trip Report as the full Itinerary is GVA - ZRH - BKK - PBH - DEL - ZRH - GVA

I would try to come into the GVA Lounge, because Your connection longhaul flight is in C. I think You will not have any problems.

Or just arrive T-45 departure at GVA and skip the lounge (I have never found the lounge at GVA anything that would qualify for more than a very few minutes).

I have been to the LX lounge in GVA before and I would agree with you compared to the BA Galleries lounge...
However I hate being last minute at the airport.... and will normally aim to be there at least 1.5 hours before the flight... then if any problems en route I am not having to stress too much...
But as I say an agent sorted it out the other day and the whole itinerary is now in C :D:D
