I am currently a member of Aeroplan / Star Alliance (Gold) . My status has been Super Elite since Air Canada introduced it a number of years ago . I'm also a million miler with Air Canada . My job has changed this year and i will be travelling extensively in Africa and will make my first trip shortly . Does Air France offer "status matching" and if so , how does one go about doing this ?
Thank you .

Normally AF does not status match. But you could give it a try and send Flying Blue a letter including a copy of your card and your account statement. You are likely to be more lucky with DL though.

That's why I wrote "normally". Last year's status match was a special promotion.

If there is no special promo at Flying Blue I should try Delta indeed. Delta has a permanent possibility with so-called challenges ( having to proof your willingness to fly with DL).

I would really advise to avoid AirFrance and Charles de Gaulle. Worst airline, worst loyalty program (only 'elite' status for gold members residing in north america - and they will never match platinum) and worst Airport ever, especially when you have to transfer. Have you checked Brussels Airlines? they used to have good connections to africa and are star alliance member. otherwise, if you really want to go skyteam, use CSA - they match your status without problems.

Pity...I'd be happy to trade my FB Platinum status for Star Alliance any day!

I would be very careful about CSA - while they would match you for $100 OW flight PRG-WAW, they would NOT for PRG-CDG-LIS in $1500 full fare Y as CDG-LIS part is OK coded but is operated by AF. Tried to argue, but with them it goes no where so I just used PRG-WAW part to do the job.

I think Golds in US/Canada have been Elite+ for long time now.

You missed last year promotion by Miles&More...
Sorry about that.

Gold on DL (50,000 status miles) has been SkyTeam ElitePlus for over a year.
