Hi

Say I fly LAX - NRT - SIN on a United ticket , but the NRT-SIN segment is on Singapore Air or Asiana etc and not United but is a United Codeshare,

Do I get the miles a V fare would get on United all the way thru ?

There seem to be so many "got yahs" with getting A3 miles credited that I want to make sure,

thanks

RB

You earn based on the airline metal flown; and it's not a 'got yahs' as all Star Alliance FFP's work to the same rule.

Its based on operating carrier. And also some of the fares match differently based on codeshares. This was a problem if I recall with CO and UA.

So if you flew J on TP operated by LH, you would earn LH standards, not TP

There are actually very few "got yahs." The rules of any frequent flyer program that I am aware of is that the operating carrier booking class will determine the miles you are going to receive. This is way code shares are usually a bad. Of course, if there is significant arbitrage it might out way the negatives.

Not so on oneworld. But who flies them? :D

OK...... well the flight I was looking at had a codeshare that looks like it only gets 50% miles so leaves me far short of the 20.000 needed.

I will just have to be sure about every flight before I take it and hope they do not change the fare class (or rules) before I fly.

Exactly ;-). My nice stash of AA miles came almost exclusively curtsy of Citi (thank you for the lovely 2 F CX to HKG tickets).
