I am moving to Charlotte North Carolina. Could any of the locals please tell me which neighborhoods are the good neighborhoods to live in? Thanks!

Wait, if you then move to that neighborhood, does that mean it is no longer good? :)

Congrats on the move.... hopefully the local FTers can help you out.

Beautiful part of the country.

There are "good neighborhoods" and "bad neighborhoods" all over town. A lot depends on your budget; how much you enjoy a daily commute (location of work site); schooling for children; lifestyle (swinging single vs family), etc.

If you could be a little more specific it would help.

Looking to rent; not buy - would like a 2BR/2 BA place. Schools not important (no children). Safety and "walkability" to things is what's important to me. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure where my office will be but I think it may be downtown.

Oh yes, I am a huge swinging single! :D

You might post your question on the City Data site (http://www.city-data.com/forum/charlotte/), which emphasizes questions on relocation.

When considering where to live in Charlotte, it’s important to consider where you’re working. There are people who have been forced into a 60 to75-minute drive, twice daily. Then, there are others who can get to work on light rail in 15 minutes. The metro area is big, and unfortunately it’s a car culture.

There are several different areas where most corporate offices are located: Center City (aka Downtown or Uptown), University City, and Ballantyne are the three largest (but there are a few others too). These 3 are no place near each other.

Having said all that, I’d still have one recommendation as a starting point on a search: http://www.postproperties.com (search for Charlotte). They’ve got four properties: Two in Center City, one in Ballantyne, and my favorite at Phillips Place / South Park. I lived at Phillips Place not too many years ago and can attest to the fact that it’s safe, comfortable, somewhat walkable, in an area with lots to do, and located about half-way between Ballantyne and Center City.

(BTW, I have no connection whatsoever with the abovementioned firm.):)

If I can be of any other help, let me know.

Thanks Seoul Man! Funny you should mention Post - that is the one site I've been looking at. My work is downtown and since I am rather "car adverse" I'd like to be somewhere where I can take transit. Again, thanks for the help; it is greatly appreciated. I start apartment hunting this next Sunday.

You did say Charlotte and transit in the same sentence?? I believe you will have to live very close to downtown or light rail as nothing else has frequency as Charlotte is NOT a public trans friendly environment with any frequency.
