My wife will be arriving on DL flight from AMS at 11:50pm 1/25 in BOM. She will have 3 large bags and our 3 month old son who will be in a stroller. Do they have any help available at the airport for her in the baggage claim area or customs?
Thanks!

Loads of porters available. All carts are free. Make sure she has some small bills in Indian rupees available to tip the guy she picks. Their English will be very limited but gesturing to her suitcases will do the trick.
Is someone meeting her at the airport?

She speaks fluent Hindi, so that will not be a problem. Her family will be there to pick her up so she needs help from baggage claim to the exit area of the airport.
I was concerned porters weren't allowed in the baggage claim areas but glad you said there will be plenty. Thanks for the tip on keeping Rupees to give to the porters.

actually, i don't think porters are allowed inside the airport at baggage claim....but your wife could ask the airline for help & they can assign someone to help out....

Porters are definitely allowed inside the airport at baggage claim. I think they have to be sanctioned by the airport authority -- they all have a "uniform" of sorts. I saw plenty of them last month.

u definitely have porters in arrivals - they will collect bags and help all the way outside the terminal even helping her clear customs (you know pass the bags thru x rays). the porters also happily accept foreign currency :D)
since she is travelling with a 3 month old son, on disembarking you may want to ask her to look out for golf carts - they will take her across to near the elevator close to immigration, also there is a separate line for mothers with infants in immigration next to the business queue so that will speed things up for her
hope she has a pleasant arrival

Thank you all so much for your advice!
I did also call Delta and arranged for a 'Meet & Assist' for when she lands. This is a service they offer for travellers with young children. It's in the reservation but now someone in BOM will have to see it and have someone available to help her.
She leaves on Monday so I'll reply to this thread once I know of her experience.

I just realized I never replied to this!
She did have someone meet her when she came off the plane and they helped her to the elevator and thru immigration. Then at baggage claim there were Porters so she had no issues, especially since the bags came out first as she was in business class. She met her family outside and they paid the Porter in Rupees and took the baggage from there.
