I am a SWA "A List Preferred" member. I had earned a Companion Pass expiring 12/2012 as of the March 1, 2011 change to the New RR system. I earned enough points and received internet notice in late November that I had qualified for another Companion Pass. To my mind, that would meant the new CP would expire 12/31/2013.
However, my account on SW web site only credits me through the original 12/2012 (which I earned under the Legacy RR system). So, the 75,000+ points I earned between 3/1/2011 and 10/31/2011 appear to be forfited for CP purposes. I sent an e-mail query to SW Customer Service and they basically told me I could only have a CP through 12/31/2012.
Has anyone else had this issue? If I flew this many miles on a "traditional" airline, I'd have first class privileges almost every flight plus enough miles for my spouse to travel with me several times a year. I believe SWA should have made clear that no matter how many points earned in 2011, you could only have a CP through 12/2012.

i've always read it as the year you earn Alist / A+ / or CP, it's good the remainder of that calendar year plus the next year. you earned it in 2011 based on the calculator they used on 3/1.
I'm not sure why you mentioned losing the 75k points earned in 2011--those 75k would have zeroed out anyway on 12/31. Even if CP stacked on extra years (which it doesn't), it requires 110k points per calendar year.

Since RR 2.0, yes, when you earn CP or A+ you have it the rest if the current calendar year and all of the next. So any points earned the rest of that first calendar year are "wasted" for CP/A+ purposes.
There is no higher level and no rollover.
This has been clear from the start. It's why my WN Visa CC has been in the deep freeze for 9 months.

Tripper, if you reread the rules, I believe they are quite clear that you can only requalify for tier or CP status in the year that it expires.
Furthermore, everyone who had status or was about to achieve status was given an extension of that status when the transition happened. For example, if you're companion pass under RR 1.0 expired in early 2012, you were extended the remainder of 2012 to enjoy that status. Similarly, if you earn status in the middle of the year, you are given the rest of that year and the next full calendar to take part in those benefits.
I think it's a pretty fair policy. In the period before requalification is possible, you still get to use the points for flights, of course.

Appreciate the feedback from several members.
I still don't understand how SWA can just totally discount the entire March to December 2011 points earned (I earned the required 110,000 points for the additional year from March 2011 through November 2011--which is just my point).
As an aside to the comment regarding SWA not counting the points as being fair, actually there are other reward programs that do carry over points earned past top tier (example: Marriott Rewards). So, even if they extended by 3-4 months when you earn the additional points, that would be somewhat more fair to the high tier customer.
I had already earned through at least April 2012 under the Legacy RR, so they extended that to December and totally ignored the 110,000 points earned after March 1? They didn't really give me anything I hadn't earned, and I was shorted by at least 4 months. Given all being equal, under the legacy program I would have earned additional months into 2013.
Thanks again for the feedback.

I would guess you got the 110k points plus for earning these. But the rules from when they changed to 2.0 were easy and fairly simple on this one. I didn't try to achieve any status this year - that I didn't already have - because it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I was already CP and A list til the end of 2012.

Does spend on the WN Chase Visa count for CP re-qualification ?
All points or up to a certain limit? All flavors of the card or just certain ones?
Thanks

Hi,
Points earned through the Rapid Rewards Visa card do count toward CP re-qualification - any of the Rapid Rewards Credit Cards will work. For, A-List/A-List Preferred status, only the Premier (and Premier Business) cards count toward qualification - Earn 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points toward A-List and A-List Preferred Status for every $10,000 you spend on the card (maximum of 15,000 Tier Qualifying Points annually).
Hope this helps!

What about the sign up bonus points?

What about the sign up bonus points?
In 2011 the sign up bonus did count toward tier qualifying. There were many posts on this topic.
Someone else may have to claify for 2012. It reads bonuses don't qualify for CPQ, so I am not sure if this pertains to the bonus from credit cards or not, but I am assuming it does pertain to the CC as well (it states no bonuses from partners will count and the marriott megamiles 2,000 bonus is not counting toward CPQ either).

I was specifically referring to the 50k bonus for CP qualifying. The rules and WN RR staff specifically state these don't count, but I've read posts over the last month from folks who've specifically stated they showed up as CP qualifying points.
No one seems to have a clear answer.

we had the CP w/out them when we got the card. So, since all of last years info. is no longer available on the site I cannot go back to see if it was posted their or not.
If it would have been before the info. all disappeared I would be happy to check for you. Sorry. Hopefully someone else who knows for sure will respond soon.;)

Mine posted as CPQP. I had a credit of 50000 + the regular CC points as a single entry.

No, we have a very clear answer.
They have posted as CPQPs for EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has reported, to my knowledge, for about 8 months. Counting those folks commenting on various blogs, it's got to be 100 or more. Ignore what WN or Chase CS say; we know more than they do, not a novel situation.
If you have an example to the contrary, please cite.
it cannot get any clearer than that. Yes, it might change in the future, but it seems unlikely that we will be notified in advance, so what can you do? Count on it until it stops.

The credit card bonuses are still counting this year (2012). See this responses in this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/1225967-active-southwest-airlines-card-50-000-bonus-points.html).

Great. Never look at threads outside this forum, so I missed it.
Wonder why WN RR staff is adamant that these signup bonuses don't count for CP...

Since there are innumerable accounts from 2011 and some accounts from 2012 that report they did count and since you request others' screenshots, perhaps you could provide screenshots (since it would have to show TPs and then not CPQPs) evidencing the CC bonus points did not count as CPQPs?

When did your parents apply, and when did the bonus miles post? Is it possible the bonus posted last year (2011) and therefore don't count towards CP this year (2012)? I applied in November, waited until Jan 1 to activate and use the card. The bonuses posted on Jan 14 and definitely do count toward CP.

Also, please confirm that you are looking at the CPQP indicator/point count and not the TQP indicator/point count as this person did:
My first 50k points posted today but they don't count towards CP. I hope this isn't really bad!!!
EDIT: False alarm - they are counting towards CP. Phew! My mistake was looking at the tier progress indicator. Apparently CP isn't a "tier" in the strict sense of the word. It doesn't build upon A-List Preferred - instead, it's whole different program. That's both interesting and a bummer, considering I was hoping to use A-List Preferred to get a 100% point bonus on all of my flights!
