I have two certificates for stays at Premium properties.

As I no longer use Hilton, given my inclination to stick to The Savoy Group Properties, I understand that the point in my Hilton account are set to expire if I do not stay at a Hilton location for 12 consecutive months.

Is this correct?

Would be willing to trade two nights at Premium Hilton for any upgrade certs etc.

That's not quite correct. You don't have to stay at a Hilton property, any points posted to your account would suffice.

From HHonors Terms and Conditions (http://www.hilton.com/en/hhonors/terms.jhtml):

"13. Members who do not earn points in any 12 month consecutive month period may be removed from the Program and, if so, are subject to forfeiture of all accumulated points. The account may be reactivated by the member taking one of the following actions:

a. stay at an HHonors hotel, thus reactivating membership; or
b. earn HHonors points through any third party source of HHonors point accumulation; or
c. request any Reward for which the Member is eligible; account will then be closed at end of the 90-day period.

Failure to take action (a), (b) or (c) described above within the prescribed 90-day period will result in the closure of the Member's account and the forfeiture of all accumulated points."

Welcome to flyertalk spectator.

As I understand it, as long as you have activity in your hhonors account at least once a year, the points won't expire. As far as the certificates go, my understanding is that they are good for a year from the date of issue, (usually printed on the certificate). If you don't think that you'll use the certficates, you can call Hilton and they will cancel the certificates and redeposit the points in your account. If you don't think you'll ever use the points to stay at a Hilton, you can always convert them to frequent flyer miles; just realize that the rate of exchange is not that great. The points are most valuable when they are used for hotel stays. You may want to keep them on hand in case you ever need them. If you get a Hilton Amex or a Hilton Visa, neither has an annual fee, and make one purchase a year, you'd keep your Hilton account active and your points wouldn't expire. If you are thinking of getting either the Hilton Amex or Hilton Visa, do a quick search on this board for any promotions with those cards. I believe they are offering some very good sign up bonuses right now, so you could very easily add a significant amount of points to your account. Good luck.
