Looking to book an award flight for new years using avios points soon (woo hoo, 25k from West coast). I was wondering what everyone thought as the best island for new years? Prefer warm, strong SPG particpation and people. thanks

Probably Oahu if you're looking for nightlife. Kauai is my personal favorite, but the sidewalks do have a tendency to roll up a 8PM.

It would have to be Oahu or Maui. I prefer Maui on almost all dimensions, but purely for the number of people/scale of celebrations, on NYE Oahu might be better.

The Sheraton Waikiki has a large poolside party by Rum Fire every year. We've been 2 yrs ago. Very crowded, pricey at $75/person but nice view of the fireworks. The livelist NyE celebrations are on Oahu--just a lot more people on Oahu.

What sidewalks? ;)
I was just on Kauai for New Year's Eve. The fireworks at Poipu Beach are quite nice. Of course, they're at 9:30. :D
