Hi,
I want to stay at a Hilton Brand hotel at Seatac airport from August 25-26. I will depart on August 26 on UA at 0820.
Which hotel should I choose as a Hilton Gold VIP / Amex black card holder looking for a good room with two double beds.
Are there any promotion codes to enter for booking on the website ?
Any bonus points available for booking on the web ?
How about a suite at the Doubletree ? Do they have a jetted hot tub ?
Where am I most likely to receive an upgrade ?
Hilton
Embassy or Doubletree ?
Regular room or suite ?
Which hotel has the nicest pool ?
I priced the Embassy Suites out at 184 USD on the web which I found a bit steep!
Please advice!

The Airport Hilton hotel room 2101 I believe has 2 King Beds. That is where I would stay. The hotel has been very good to me (stayed there at least 25 times in the past 2 years)
No promos at any of these properties. Doubletree offers a 21daysaver rate (20% 0ff) if you book ahead, lowest rate incl discount is $103.20 or $111.20 for an x-large room, but with status you will probably get upgraded anyway.
Hilton offers a NetDirect rate (full prepayment) at $127. There is also a Homewood Suites at the airport for $129. The ES is $159, that would be my last option. You are not likely to receive any special upgrades at ES or HS. Then again, you will already be in a suitetype room. I would go with the Hilton or Doubletree. ES hardly ever has any good promos.

Doubletree at SeaTac would upgrade you as a Gold. It would be a top floor room, failry big. If lucky, you may get a good suite which is two rooms. The balconies are very nice. The property is pretty old and if you are driving, parking can be tough since they also use the lot for all day parking for air travelers. Would not be my first choice, but convenient if you will not be there for a long period. The Hilton is new... they gutted the old building and built from scratch. Great steak restaurant in the lobby.

The name of the restaurant is Spencers and they do have great steak. Unfortunately the couple of times I've stayed there the staff has been bordering on rude. Gold status means NOTHING to them. On the other hand almost everytime I've stayed at the Double Tree they have treated me exceptionally well. With Gold status I have been upgraded to a suite 3 out of 4 times. One of those suites must of been close to a 1,000 sq ft. They are usually cheaper than the Hilton as well.

Thanks for helping me. I'll go for the Doubletree. And book an x-large room on the web.
They have a free airport shuttle early in the morning I suppose ?
Parking is no issue since I got no car.

I found the Hilton to be immensely better than the DoubleTree.
First off, the DoubleTree has a bizarre design, with some rooms in satellite buildings and others in the main building -- all of them are a substantial walk from the lobby. The Hilton is a much nicer physical plant and, as mentioned, has an excellent restaurant.
As a Gold, I had the choice of a free breakfast or a substantial amount deducted ($15, IIRC) from a meal at the restaurant. I found this especially useful for an airport hotel, where I often stay for an early flight and can't use a free breakfast (gone before breakfast begins).
I've had plumbing issues at the Doubletree (no hot water at 5am), and they had the world's cheapest cable tv that did not even include ESPN.
The staff at both locales have been courteous and well-meaning. Overall, though, it's a hands-down win for the Hilton.

I believe the DoubleTree runs every 15 minutes 24 and 7.
The Hilton has a shuttle as well. It seems to be more on demand than a regular schedule, not really sure

wideman,
I have not yet booked a room. Thanks for your opinion which is most welcome!
The Hilton has been renovated about 2 years ago and is not comparable to the old and shabby Doubletree, however I believe they have some newer rooms.IIRC it is the biggest hotel in SEA... ?
Hilton is nice, but overpriced in any aspect. We had dinner at Spencer`s two years ago and flamboyant, believe me, we are talking about prices, that guarantee a good night in the DUS Altstadt...
Way overpriced, but quality was not that great. However sometimes they have a promo, which gives you a free desert or ask for the lunch menu. The Hilton is directly across the airport parking structure, theoretically you could walk over to the check in area in 3 minutes, but there is no way there.
Had to wait for the Hilton shuttle for more than 30 minutes, traffic can back up in the early evening. The DT is down the street, nexto to some gas stations and a Taco Bell, which is open late.No problem to get some food there.
Hampton is even further down the road, stayed their last summer, when both the DT and Hilton were much more expensive.AAA rate was 71.10 and we got a nice upgraded room, breakfast is free anyway.
Have to add that the free breakfast at the Hilton was great, full buffet and a chef doing various great omelettes.Got my Gold coupons there every time, without asking !!
Maybe Priceline is an alternative, IIRC you will find a thread about $ 7 priceline rates at the DT SEA...

I got a great rate at the HGI in Renton at the end of June. $49 I think.
Got Continental breakfast and $5 towards their pantry although they didn't charge me for about $6 of stuff. Full cooked-to-order breakfast was just a $2 surcharge.
Shuttle to and from Seatac, it's just an extra 5 minutes on their bus.

HGI Renton is good but it is a ways away. Shuttle is on-demand and there may be a wait if it is busy.
The Doubletree was a Red Lion. The property has been adding the motel-like annexes which you're guaranteed to get if you are there on a Priceline rate (dicey getting it this way these days - I've ended up at the Radisson for 3/3 for my last 3 SEA PCLN stays). On regular rates, I've always had upgrades to tower rooms with buffet breakfast coupons. Shuttle is every 15 mins 24/7.
HS Tukwila is bad as it is said to be run down and right next to a freight rail track.
