Flying KE LAX-ICN RT in C, 380 outbound, 777 in bound in the next week.

Cabin Temperatures
How is KE with cabin temperatures? I found a few old threads that mentioned extremely warm cabins and am wondering if I should pack shorts and a t-shirt in my carry-on. I fly OZ a few times a year and I find their cabins extremely warm. My last flight was so hot, I was sorely tempted to take off my shirt AND pants! (Relax, I didn't! But I forgot to bring shorts presentable in public, if you know what I mean. ;))

Hot cabins are an issue with me. The kids at work (20's and 30's!) claim I am going through "man-o-pause."

ICN Check in times
Does KE have any problems with early check-in at ICN? My return flight is at something like 1:30 AM but I will arrive at the airport around 7 PM. Will they let me check in and sit in the lounge or should I look for something else to do for a few hours?

I did an early check-in just this week at 12:30 PM for a 7:15 PM flight. Free checked baggage "storage".

Hit the lounge, and if you get bored with that, do some shopping, or eating at a restaurant.

I have noticed that they sometimes make the cabin cooler if there are complaints.

On my KE transpacific flights in November the cabin temperatures seemed a bit cooler than previous flights but, wearing a tshirt and longsleeve shirt, I still didn't feel a need to use the blanket.

Just return from a round trip YYZ/ICN/HKG and the temp was way too warm on the YYZ-ICN whereas the ICN-YYZ was way too cool. ICN/HKG/ICN was both on the new A380 and they had the temp just right. The ICN-YYZ was on an much older 777-200 and the way and tear was really showing.

Not sure if there is a rule, but from my experience it would not be a problem. (at least 5 hours early is okay, I see no reason for this case to be different)

Well, to answer my own queries:

Cabin temps were fine, blessedly cooler than OZ. ^ I took the A380 from LAX to ICN and a 772 on the return. The A380 upper deck was somewhat warmer and I never needed the blanket. The 777 on the way back was cool enough that I used the blanket.

Early check-in was no problem, although I did get to the airport considerably later than I expected. (I forgot how bad the traffic can be around Seoul on a Friday evening before a holiday.)

Wow, traffic around these times of the (lunar) year can be crazy in Korea. It is pretty common to take 10> hours for a 400 km drive.

I took the A380 from JFK to ICN back on Jan 14 and have to say that the cabin temp upstairs was rather on the high side. After waking up in a sweat I decided to switch from jeans to shorts (which I packed based on the tips that the temp might be on the warm side) and was still rather warm. I guess its hit or miss on the flights. Our connecting 777 from ICN to BKK had a much nicer, cooler temperature. Flying back in 2 days and hopefully its not a sauna again.
