I never even considered staying at club carlson properties, but with recent fall 11 promos it was a sin not to..
while hotels that has "Inn" in the name always made me shiver a little, I stayed at a few properties lately, and am very impressed with quality.
Park inn DAL
Park inn north
Radisson Dallas north
Radisson Boston
Country inn ATL airport south
Country inn buckhead
Most of the properties are low tier and they way exceeded my expectations.
Way to go! Quite a difference from nickelanddiming I'm met by other major chains.
Thank you.

I agree, same impression. I was SPG person until I was booked into long term project stay at JNB in the RBlu in 2010. Came away with great impression, in fact started pointing more stays towads CC. Can't beat the free breakfast as Concierge.
While I still stay at SPG, with this triple points promo...CC will see me quite a bit more than SPG (who's current 2x3x promo doesn't appear at the hotels I use in Q1).

I had 3 Club Carlson stays last year, all of which ranked high in satisfaction:
RBlu @ MAN appeared newly renovated (much nicer than the MAN Marriott), nice amenities including large pool, all for a reasonable rate, especially for an on-airport property.
RBlu near BRU Grande Place was nicer and a better value than the Le Meridien I've stayed in previously.
Put the family up in a couple of rooms at a Country Inn in West Bend WI. Friendly, attentive service put many 4-star properties to shame, free breakfast buffet was quite satisfying, but I was most impressed with the soundproofing. Despite all the other kids running around the hotel and a room facing the highway, we couldn't hear any of it. I've paid way more to sleep poorly in fancier hotels because of thin walls and floors.

I have yet to read a bad review of the Radisson Chain or a Club Carlson hotel. Wonder what's up with that.
I do wish they would Status Match to Concierge Level though as being a lowly Gold hasn't told me much.

the few Rads Ive stayed in here in the US Ive never had a great stay and figured the reson they were with radisson is either due to be thrown out of another program or simply werent up to the other Chains standards
Most Country Inns were decent but so are Hamptons or Fairfields
Staed at the Radisson in Krakow and was that a mistake, The Holiday Inn was so much nicer
But I do expect certain European Hotels will be on a much higher level then those here in the US
