Hilton HHonors - Will you get VAT taxed twice for bill to room charge?

I stayed at the Conrad BKK recently, and in my haste, I didn't check the bill thoroughly (my mistake). Just wanted to know if anyone had stayed at the Conrad BKK recently and bill to your room folio the cafe charges. Did the cafe bill include the 7% VAT tax already, and when you check out, did Conrad apply another 7% VAT on your room folio to the cafe charges?

Always check your bills no matter where you stay before you leave. I even make hotels print a second bill when I check-out, even if the front desk is lazy or presents an attitude in doing so.

As for CONRAD BKK, one of the finest hotels I've stayed at, you should get a VAT charge for your stay + an additional, lower, VAT charge for any incidentals as it is seperate from the room charge. No incidentals, then no secondary VAT charge.

Are your incidentals lower than your room charge, but the VAT higher than the room charge??

Some countries refund hotel VAT. Canada happens to be one of them (their 7% GRT is refunded). Unfortunately, the VAT refund for Thailand does not include Hotel charges. It would probably bankrupt them if they did because I certainly went over their minimum limt if I included hotel.....but the Thailand Refund desk at the airport said, "No." (with a smile).
