I started OLCI dead on the nose at 30 hours in order to secure an exit row on two European flights. As a Plat this is of course for free. Instead I see all the exit rows greyed out. Thinking I was too early at T-24, I've gone back and seen the same thing.

I am highly suspicious of this, I don't think there were 6 FB Plats/Gold's at T-30 selecting all those seats on my connecting flights. So 12 seats in all apparently taken on flights that have low loads.

Is there a way to independently check this? I tried to cancel OLCI to then remove my FB no to hopefully show the exit-rows being available to pay for but the cancellation tool didn't work properly.

One more thing, normally it says Elite Plus Platinum or something like that under my name but today all it says is P. I am flying route's eligible for these services.

"P" is short for Platinum.

Probably a glitch.

There was a period of several weeks last summer when the emergency exit rows were always greyed out on flights between AMS and NWI (in both directions). I reported it, and it eventually got fixed. My bet is it's the same issue.

Thanks for your replies. Indeed I understood 'P' to be Platinum, but I recall on the occassions it has worked it had the full Platinum Elite Plus or something to that effect, under my name.

I have raised it with KLM on Twitter who say all exit rows taken, but I think all they've done is just start OLCI with my details to see the result. In fact, the whole of the forward cabin is greyed out, the back totally empty which makes me think it is a glitch as you say.

I hope to cancel OLCI, take out my FB no and then start it as a pleb and see what happens.

Well in the end a positive outcome. I contacted KL through Twitter. A nice lady called to hear the problem and offered a solution afterwards. That was in addition to quite a few direct messages. It seems as I am flying from an AF station there was a problem with this flight and it auto-assigned me the first rows (which is normally behaviour anyway IMHO) but it wouldn't work the economy comfort zone properly.

So ^ to KL social media for resolving this. Once again Twitter provides satisfaction with dealing with problems with airlines! A bit of effort to get an exit row but I'm happy it is resolved.
