Avis - Cheaper over a month: Mon-Fri rental or Monthly plus LAX weekend parking?

Hoping someone has done this math before:

I need a car from LAX for ~month. I'd use it Mon-Fri usually and fly out on weekends. Something fuel efficient.

Would I be better off booking each week individually with discounts for 5-day, or booking for month but paying for airport parking at lax (~$50/weekend)?

Or is this better done by pursuing a custom deal with someone like the manager of the rental facility or autoslash could help put together for me?

Thanks in advance!

Well, unfortunately, the bonuses are not the same now as then. The last time I did the math on it (a couple years ago), Delta had a 5K bonus for 4+ rentals days with Avis. It clearly then made sense to at least once a week swap out to a new rental. But I don't know of any similarly lucrative bonuses right now, but in case there are any, keep in mind that the more separate rentals you have, the more of the partner bonuses you'll earn.

(And, in any case, back then for me, it was because of my previous car having been totaled, but being picky and short on time, having a hard time finding a replacement car immediately. But that meant that in my case I didn't know ahead of time which week my rentals would finally come to an end. So it was must simpler to do each week, or even less, of rentals seprately. But I had that bonus to factor in, so I never thought about how I would have done it without that bonus.)

Next, I don't know how you're calculating (~$50/weekend) for parking at LAX. LAX lot C is only $12.00 a day (all taxes included). And depending on exactly how long your weekend is, you may get pretty similar pricing or even less at Park One (Park N Fly), right next to T1*, by using the "1 free day with minimum 2 days" coupon at longtermparking.com (on top of their $15.95 + tax rate). If you park for no more than 48 hours, but more than 26 or so (whatever it takes for them to count it as "2 days"), then you clearly pay less at Park One with that coupon. If you park for more than 48 hours (say, due to flying out Fri night and flying back in Mon morning), then it's about equal, because $15.95 + taxes for two days is not much different than $12 for three days.

*Pricing aside, Park One is especially useful if you happen to be flying Southwest or US Air, because they are both in T1, and you can walk from your car to T1 in about 3 to 4 minutes (depending on the light)! No waiting for a shuttle in that case!

Anyhow, I don't see why you need to budget more than $36/weekend for LAX parking (unless you have your heart set on some particular parking lot?).

thanks for the reply.

as far as $50/wkend- i am counting fri afternoon - mon morn. my standby place Sunrise parking counts it as 4 days, not over a 24 hr period at $13/day.

i usually fly southwest, so i miss the 8.99 parkone coupon there was before as i loved walking there. lot C seems sketchy, although if it's a rental i suppose i shouldn't care.

even parking at $36/wkend, that means i need to save ~$7per weekday between weekly and monthly rates (mon-fri). that seems pretty standard if i use coupons, unless there's a better coupon than $50 off a monthly that i don't know about.

it seems the only opportunity to save then is to rent a monthly off-airport to save on fees/taxes. this is probably offset by taxi or bus ride to get there..
