Flight to Trelew from AEP 0755 Weds 11th.
Email at 0755 today saying moved to EZE at 0600.
Email at 1750 today informing flight cancelled.
Concierge phoned AerArg: Reason - retiurn of the ash from Chile. Have been rebooked on flight from AEP at 1915
BUT the Flight 1865 not back until 2020 earliest according to website i.e unlikely the 1915 will leave given this airlines track record and the current situation so thinking of cancelling and having 1-2 days in Uruguay instead.

In summary check for flights south of BA.

The latest ash cloud map (http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/volcanic?REGION=vaacch&V=Puyehue&LANG=en&ART=0) would seem to agree.

Hi - that's a very useful map thanks.
The forecast in the next 12-18hours shows an ash band between BUE and REL so i think we're screwed for Patagonia.
Just hoping that it doen't come over BA by Monday when we're due to go back to GLA!!

Shame that your plans have been disrupted but a couple of days in Uruguay sounds a decent alternative....at least you won't have to worry about getting back to EZE to catch your flight home.

The Ash effect in Buenos Aires has been very very mild for the last 8-10 weeks. Last bad ash fallout dates back to early November.....

Thanks and agree the uncertainty would have not contributed to what's been an otherwise excellent trip.

I see the 1915 plane eventually arrived in REL at 2325. Collecting bags, picking up car and driving to Puerto Madryn in the dark (having never risked the roads here before) would have finished me off!

Colonia is proving very nice and relaxed.

Given we are now going to be back in BA mid-avo, instead of 2345 if we had been in Patagonia, it gives us a chance to try out another BA restaurant. Result!

Mild still cost me a cancelled flight yesterday morning.
Problem was didn't want to risk being stranded in REL with a flight to LHR on Monday (and thus possibly having to do the 20hour bus).

Sorry but I dont follow.... are you saying your flight was cancelled yesterday because of ash in the Greater Buenos Aires area...???

Sorry Gaucho100K i should have explained myself more clearly.
The 6am flight was cancelled due to ash in the Trelew area (or on the flight path).
This was the reason given by Aerolineas Argentinas.
Saying that there were flights in the afternoon, and at night, that flew that route.
