The Hampton Suites near PHF is a decent, newer facility. Lots of dining options adjacent. You won't get much in the way of extra HH benefits, however.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Williamsburg and got a really good rate on the weekend.

There is a nice, new HGI on Richmond Road. I have seen $69 weekend rates there. It is a basic HGI--nothing fancy, but gets the job done. I stayed at the Homewood Suites on ByPass Road while in town for a wedding last year. It was far too expensive for the price. The ES is fine. There are also three Hamptons in Willaimsburg. The nicest is the HI & Suites on Richmond Road.

Anytime after X-Mas, you should be able to get a room. This time of year, though, they are quite dear.

Hope this helps.

We're considering an award stay in Williamsburg next month and looking for some feedback on the various Hilton properties. From what I can tell there are 2 regular Hamptons, one Hampton Inn and Suites, an ES, a HGI and a Homewood. All the properties are category 3's except the Hampton Williamsburg Center, which is a 2 and the Embassy Suites, which is a 4.

I've been told that the Hampton Inn and Suites only offers regular rooms w/ two double beds for award stays. Does anyone know if they'll upgrade to a suite for gold members? Also, I'm curious if the HGI offers breakfast coupons.

If we can't get a suite (Homewood and Embassy have somewhat limited availability) at this point we're leaning toward the category two Hampton, but I was also curious about the parking situation in Williamsburg. The category 3 Hampton is supposedly located right in the historic area so I'm assuming it would be walking distance to most attractions. Is parking/traffic going to be bad enough in August that we should consider this property on location alone?

Thanks

Are you a Diamond? If not, you're not likely to snag an award reservation on a weekend in Williamsburg during the summer. That being said, I would rank the HGI #1 in Williamsburg. Used points to give my in-laws a nice anniversary get-away there in the spring. They loved it. Clean, new, great breakfast.

I was at the Homewood week before last. Friends were getting married and I didn't want to make the hour drive home. Rack rate is about $220 a night, so I opted for points. I had to get the Diamond Desk to make special arrangements for me. It has nice rooms, free breakfast and a nice indoor pool.

I have stayed in the Hampton Inn Williamsburg Center in May. I would not suggest this property, because the room especially bathroom is not up to the standard of other Hampton Inns that I had stayed before.

If there is no availability for award stay in Williamsburg, you may want to try the Hampton Inn in NewportNews. Both Hampton Inns in this area are nice and clean. The one close to Victory Blvd. even has microwave and mini-refrigerator in every room. But you may have to drive longer (less than 20 miles) to get to Williamsburg. Wish you can find a nice stay in Wiliamsburg.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm only a gold but this will be a mini-vacation for us so we're taking time off work and going in the middle of the week. While the Homewood and Embassy Suites aren't available, it looks as though the others all are.

Has anyone here stayed at the HI & Suites on Richmond Road? I'd still love to try and get a suite if at all possible but if the chances of an upgrade are slim to none we'd probably go with the HGI or the Hampton historic area.

Here's a thought. There is a new Homewood Suites at the Richmond Airport. It is only about 25 minutes from there to Williamsburg. Sure you'd have a half hour drive, but you'd be in a suite. You're fom Northern VA; you're used to driving. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
