I am planning a 2 week trip to Burma and would like help with our itinerary and hotels. The places and hotels in each we are looking at are:

Yangon-Governor's Residence
Bagan The hotel at Tharabar Gate
Inle lake Inle lake View Resort
Mandalay Hotel by the Red Canal
Ngapali Beach -?

How much time should we spend in each place and should we eliminate one spot from the itinerary? Do you have any better hotel suggestions? Who is the best travel company to use within the country to make our arrangements?

We stayed at Aureum Palace in Ngapali and loved it. Had a friend arranged for everything for us so didn't deal with travel company. You can search on lonely planet forum for such recommendations. Stayed in Bagan for 3 days, Mandalay and surroundings for 3 and Ngapali for another 3days. Didn't get to Inlay.

Never made it to Ngapali because the flight from Sittwee was canceled. Have been to Chaung Tha and really enoyed that. It is more local than Ngapali. Seems like you have plenty of time to stay three days or so in each place. To me, Inle was the best of the bunch and Mandalay my least favorite. You should plan on the last two nights in Yangon in case a flight gets canceled when you are trying to make it back to Yangon. We have made the trip three times and used a government licensed private tour guide. He makes all the travel arrangements to include hotel, transport, flights, etc. and stays with you. Others here on FT have used him also. If you are interested in more info or contact info send me a PM.
