Qatar Airways Privilege Club - Choices, choices - Y - single traveller - any plane?

I'm quite excited, after years of GF/EY/EK (and predominantly SQ) I get to fly QR at last on my next work trip (it'll be an SIN/CGK open jaw).

Unfortunately it will be in Y. But I note with within the date, I've got options (and the timings all work for me) to experience pretty much all of QR's fleet (77W, 77L, 346, 333 all options presented to me).

I could make it a bonanza and book all 4 (I think 333 is compulsory from CGK, 77W or 77L to/from SIN) to compare. But in reality, as it's Y I know it will all be tight and uncomfortable, and unlike J where the plane can make a big difference. So, small differences it may be, but any reason to pick one plane above another?

I would pick the 77W/L where possible as the configuration is a more spacious 3-3-3 and the IFE screens are alot better as well.

With the Airbuses do not choose a window seat, unless you really wanna take pictures. As the IFE Box under the seat are generally horendous and take up nearly half the available leg room.

This site is also a bit more help as well:

Thanks Omar, that's great.

I'm a tasty 6ft6, so will be pulling a favour or two for emergency exits. In the meantime, I note that Seat Guru states the 77W/77L/343 has a varied seat pitch of 32-34.0". Is there a way of finding out which seats have the 34inch pitch? For example I know there is a map of TG's 747 which outlines which seats have 34" and which are 32".

Shame about the airbii - as I prefer the A340 for quietness over a 777 on most airlines :)

I asked here that 777 seat pitch question before but it kept unanswered.

On the 777 the best Y seats are the aisle seats in the first row. (I am too lazy now to check out seatguru).

Lots of space. Not as cold as emergency rows and nothing or nobody is standing on your feet. Much quieter as only staff walks by.

AFAIK these seats are only assigned upon c/i. This is the point to check out there are no breeders around!

IMO, A346 and 77W are the best aircraft in QRs fleet.

The Airbuses have better mood lighting, and I prefer 2-4-2 seating, but as Omar84 says, they don't have as good IFE screens, and the box is quite big.
Another Airbus plus is that they are quieter, as you say.

Seats are fairly similar, though a bit wider on 777 I think. Legroom is generally good in all seats/aircraft, though if you are 6-6 then I imagine you might notice any difference more.
If you are on 77W, the side seats in row 17 are the most private, as they are only 2 seats each side.

As a single traveller who does not need the extra legroom afforded by the emergency exit rows, I always go for an aisle seat in column 'F' if possibe when the flight is a 777-300ER. Right hand seat in the centre block, no inflight entertainment box to reduce the legroom/underseat storage area, and, as the configuration is 3-3-3, only a 50/50 chance of being disturbed by the middle seat passsenger.

Having said that, on my next flight I have been automatically allocated an ailse seat in one of the side blocks in row 17, the one that International Living refers to. Normally I would change it to an 'F', but will give a try.

In the 330's, go for a B, G or J aisle seat, as they don't have IFE boxes to reduce the underseat/legroom space. Can't speak for a 346 as I've never flown in one.

Best seat on the newer 321's? 11B!
