Immigration is fairly fast and lots of transport from the airport. yosithezet Jan 10, 12, 6:48 am Do you think that it is worth it to use an expeditor at BKK? I will be getting in around 9 PM. If so can you recommend any? Thank you Are you flying business class? If yes then some airlines provide Fast Track passes. At what hotel will you be staying? Some used to offer an escort service but I have a feeling this went away with their ability to give away/sell Fast Track passes. Are you travelling on a passport where you will need to go through the VOA line? goodeats21 Jan 10, 12, 10:02 am It would also depend on when you are traveling. If during the upcoming Chinese New Year busy period, it would be more useful than during the typical low season later this year.... Is there a reason you are considering using such a service? Tight schedule, mobility issues, etc? lapo1234 Jan 15, 12, 12:52 pm Staying at the renaissance hotel. Traveling with a regular passport. Was consider the service because a friend used on and said it was nice. Going in the middle of feb. Dr. HFH Jan 15, 12, 2:06 pm If this is your first time in Bangkok, it does make things easier. I asked the hotel to meet me on my first trip, and it was great. I had been flying for quite some time and was exhausted when I arrived. (I put a DND sign outside of my room that night, and someone from management telephoned around 2 p.m. the next day to see if I was OK.) It was also my first time in Asia. Anyway, there was someone at the end of the jetway holding a sign with my name on it. I was pretty zoned out and this made it much easier (read, I was allowed to stay in my "zone" and not focus on my surroundings). She didn't leave my side for a minute until she transferred me to the hotel's driver. I believe that, as at HKG, it is a central greeter company (or possibly pooled hotel staff) which meets you at the jetway if you purchase that service. The are dressed formally and wear the seemingly ubiquitous rectangular brass colored name badges so they appear to be from your individual hotel. No matter, they are very good and work with the individual hotels. Tomphot Jan 15, 12, 5:48 pm I made my first trip to BKK a few weeks ago. The airport is really easy to navigate, immigration was a breeze, luggage was fast and the taxi took us straight to the hotel with no issues. On this trip, we were through the airport 4 times and I'm not sure that an expeditor would have made the process any faster or easier. mcgahat Jan 15, 12, 8:25 pm What would be something that would make it worth it to you? Things are pretty easy to navigate to be honest. It only gets hectic (and only mildly so) when you exit customs and go towards the taxi line but even that is really not bad at all. I personally dont think it is that easy to find for a first timer but if you do a little reasearch before hand it is pretty simple. So, if you are looking to save time then you probably wont save a lot but.......if you are looking to get a first class experience then sure go for it. I have only used it once and this was at the old airport and it was pretty nice but never thought it was forth the 2000thb or whatever it is for the service. If you want to live it up then go for it but I dont see much benefit in it. braslvr Jan 16, 12, 12:11 am The only hard part of arrivals at BKK for me has been the +/- 1 hour waits in immigration lines. Many, many times at 11:30 - 11:50 PM. Rarely ever less than 20-30 minutes. If the expeditor could eliminate this, I would consider paying for it. Every other part of arrivals is an absolute piece of cake even if you're half dead from the flight. |
