I looked at the airline's FAQ as well as on this forum so please excuse me if it's been answered before. But I can't find any info on whether or not I can use Elevate points to get an award ticket for a friend. I do know that I can do so if I'm also traveling on that person's itinerary but what if I am not? What if they're the sole traveler? Can I use points to buy them a ticket in that situation? Thanks.

Even before the new reservation system, it was random whether you could do it or not. I have not tried with the new system...

Of course you can. Whether they're listed as travel companions or you add the information yourself.
