Singapore - Fairmont or Marriott in March

Was going to stay at the Marriott in early March but have read about their construction and jackhammers at all hours of the day (not at night). Can get a good rate at the Fairmont and have never stayed in that area. Anyone stay at the Marriott lately?

I´ve only stayed at the Fairmont SIN, so can´t really compare the two properties.

The location of the Fairmont is great (most destinations within walking distance, right on top Raffles shopping mall, MRT/bus stops across the street). The suites at the hotel are very nice (if you happen to have any status with Fairmont upgrading at this hotel is easy and definitely worth it as all guests staying in a suite get access to the exec. club on the top floor). Booking an executive club room also is a good deal most of the time. The regular rooms and other hotel facilities are more 3.5*-4* than 5* IMO and are nothing to get excited about.

The Marriott is always expensive, have never seen any decent promo there.

I recently booked my parents into the Swissotel The Stamford as they had some super rates on Expedia (cheaper than booking direct), not sure if they're still around though.
