Alitalia MilleMiglia - Discounted Alitalia award seats, at 50% off

Somehow I recall some mention of this on a blog somewhere but the link didn't work, was this offer ever live ? Is it still around? Would it work for intra-european trips?
In the past it seemed that penfed redemptions offers good deals but looks like that has been devalued as of late.
