All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - Expedia booked confirmation not working on ANA website

I booked an ANA flight from HND to OKA and back on Expedia. On my Expedia itinerary I can see the confirmation code, but when I try to look up the reservation on the ANA website I keep getting a "*Selected reservation cannot be confirmed.(A_RL_1A_002A)" error. It this because the reservation hasn't been finalized on the ANA side yet?

Also, this is the first Japan domestic flight I'm taking, so I'm wondering if I need my passport? I'll bring it anyway, but I'm just curious.

It could be any number of things. On one occasion I booked a flight on ANA as a code-share via United and even with two record locators and the ticket # I could not for the life of me bring up the rez. Then, in the back of my mind, I recalled the agent on the phone saying my first and middle name as though they were one. Lo and behold, when I put in my rez # and my name with the first and middle name combined, that was the only way I could bring up the rez on ANA's site. Sounds stupid, but it might be that or because you booked via Expedia. Keep trying.

I did what you said and I found my reservation!

Strange that they would encode my first name that way, hopefully I'll still get through security because my passport separates my first and middle name.

Many thanks for the suggestion Beard Papa (love those cream puffs (http://www.muginohointl.com/))

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I thought it was a fluke or glitch with me, but I guess it's SOP with them. Congratulations and enjoy.

I think all airlines treat middle names that way when ticketing. For example, when I fly domestically in the US I never use my middle name because it is not on my Driver's License. However, when I fly internationally my middle name is added to my First Name without any spaces because my middle name appears on my passport. No problems at immigration or check-in as agents are well aware of the their systems limitations.

Continental has always tacked my middle initial onto my first name, and that's the way they send it to other carriers like ANA and LH, though on the most recent reservation ANA has my correct first, middle, and last name for "Passport Info". All my Continental BPs have always said "Davidv". They do that with my mom's name too; instead of "Marie" she's "Maries"
