Hilton HHonors - Hampton Inn & Suites St. Louis at Forest Park, MO

I can't find a link but there was a blurb in the 6/3/03 St. Louis Post-Dispatch saying that a Hampton Inn will be built at the Forest Park Highlands. For those familiar with St. Louis, the Highlands is the area next to Forest Park Community College and where the old Arena used to be.

I thought I had read that one was originally going to be built at the southwest corner of I-44 and Hampton Ave. in the Clifton Heights neighborhood but that opposition shot it down.

"Work is well underway on a new Hampton Inn & Suites and Krieger's restaurant at the Highlands at Forest Park."

The Highlands is the redevelopment of the old Arena site in Dogtown on the south side of Highway 40 just across from Forest Park. It's a mixed use development that's been slowly built up over the past 5 years or so with office buildings, apartments, lofts, etc. Now it looks like we'll have a Hampton Inn there also. For the casual visitor to St. Louis who wants to see more than downtown I can't imagine a better location across from Forest Park with the Muny, the Zoo, History Museum, etc.
