Yes... I know the One World and Star Alliance.... but since LAN is going to merge with TAM I wanted to ask.... also, no chance TAM has some sort of accrual agreement with American Airlines, or....?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers,

TAM is not a partner of American Airlines, so you can't earn AA miles.
Choose LAN or any Star Alliance airline.

If you credit to TAM Fidelidade and get 6000 points, then you can transfer to A|Club and use them to get hotel vouchers, or transfer to various airlines. You'll need to have a CPF attached to the TAM Fidelidade account to do this (can probably be false).

Im now being told that you can book these TAM miles to LAN Pass.... they will just not be good as status miles, but still, its better than nothing...

At present (and for the near foreseeable future), it Gol, not TAM, that is the Brazilian airline that AA has a direct accrual agreement with.

As discussed in other threads, it's going to be a quite a while, perhaps some time after the merger is official, before AA is likely to switch to accruing on TAM, given that you can't yet accrure LAN Colombia on AA because it's "too new" to the LAN family still.

I believe that TAM flights are only credited to LANPass if they are wholly within South America. At least South America to North America is excluded. I don't know whether that means the connecting flight on the same itinerary would count.

For example EZE-GRU-MIA. GRU-MIA would not count for LAN. I don't know if EZE-GRU would count in that case.

EZE-GRU standalone ticket should count for LAN.

My flights will be 100% within South America (EZE-GRU-SAN) so I'm guessing we will be fine.
