Hilton HHonors - ! ! May 31 falls during Monthly Maintenance ! !

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks, so unless I missed something, system monthly maintenance and the rate increase coincide this weekend.

I completely agree. Thanks for the reminder! FWIW, I've made my redemption yesterday, it was immediately reflected online (including cert #, etc.), and the actual cert came into today's e-mail.

That is irrelevant, as according to Rut Dog's post in the other thread he is referring to,

Definitely order your certs TODAY. and ask them to fax it to you. Usually, the faxes seem to arrive within an hour, where the emails took over a day.

FWIW, the past three times (this year) that I requested an email cert, it took a little over 24 hours each time. I ended up calling back before receiving the email, and request the cert to be faxed so that I have it in my possession.

The emails do eventually arrive, but with the looming deadline, I would hate to endure the system maintenance, and the subsequent headache dealing with "sorry, we cannot issue 100K certs after 6/1 ..."

Thanks for the cautionary note. But according to Rutdog's own prior post (in the thread he cites to begin this one), it looks as if "monthly maintenance" occurs during the last weekend of the month wherein the Sunday being used as part of the time needed is still in the same month as the Friday being utilized. By this "rule" monthly maintenance should have occurred last weekend since this coming Sunday is June 1, 2003.

So shouldn't Hilton be able to issue "old schedule" awards without a problem during their open hours tomorrow, Saturday, May 31, 2003?

Someone who actually gets their questions answered in a prompt manner by someone at HHonors or in the Hilton organization -- unlike myself -- I am thinking of perhaps Eugene can do this -- should inquire about this question and let the readership know for certain.

Thanks, NJ. I've called and written H a number of times, and never gotten a definitive answer on this. Not to say I haven't gotten answers, such as this e-mail received 4/29/03: <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">The maintenance is done during the last week of the month on Friday night and all day Saturday. If Friday is the last day of the month then the previous weekend will be the maintenance weekend. This may change at anytime. As of today these are the scheduled dates.</font>

If what you say is true (and I'm sure it is) then someone decided to take advantage of the holiday last weekend, or was actually thinking about the rush of 11th hour redemptions, and did the maintenance last weekend.

Either that, or my deduced rule (Sunday is still in the month) is the correct one, not the one that H told me! :P

I do remember seeing the annoucement on the hhonors web site about the maintenance that occured last weekend (May 23-25, 2003) ...

Please do not take my statement as gospel as my information is only as good as the source from which it is derived from, and from my post named "A New Low for Hilton" you can evidently see how much respect that I have for at least some of the personnel at Hilton.

If what I have been told is duplicated by others, so much the better, but I feel that this would be yet another screw up on Hilton's part if one were not able to redeem one's points for certificates tomorrow.

In any event, I was able to redeem my points over the weekend and I saw that they were deducted, but I just had to wait for the certificate to be e-mailed to me on Monday.

If that is the extent of the impact on redemption from a website update, it should not present any problems, even if there is another one this weekend.

HHonors did their maintenance last weekend. Ordering certs tomorrow should not be a problem.

Monthly maint. occurs on the last "full" weekend of each month. Fri/Sat/Sun. This Saturday certificate redemption should not be an issue.

I just confirmed with the Diamond desk that there will be no monthly maintenance this weekend. Certs should be able to be redeemed online tomorrow.
