A little light research ahead of Diamond Club's demise.
* Where an airline - say SQ - has no minimum mileage quoted on the A3 website is it safe to assume that no minimum applies
* Where there is one quoted - say 1000 for C on Swiss - is that multipled by the class of service or not. So would LHR-ZRH in C earn just 1000 or 1000 x 2
Thanks for the answers to the no-doubt bloody stupid questions. ;)

Well, the earning table for Swiss says a minimum of 500 miles for 100% classes (M, U, H, V, Q, S, W, G), and minimum 1000 miles for business class (J, C, D, Z, P), so it seems like 1000 miles is already 200%.

This is my interpretation. Also, if no min is given in that column on the A3 earning charts, I would assume that there is no minimum per segment.

And this situation makes a mileage run for Gold complicated for US based traveler. While US flights have no minimum but ever class get 100%, UA/CO flights have 500 miles minimum but get only 50% on the (likely) mileage run class.
So you either have to find long (over 500 miles) flights on US, or short flights on UA to make it worth while.

Forget mile runs, that's my standard logic when booking. US on transcons/longhauls, UACO on short hops.

In my opinion for business (P class) is minimum 1000 miles, 200%, in total: 2000 miles per segment.
Maybe I'm wrong ...

Please correct me and make it clear.
Airline: SWISS
Class: P (business)
WAW - ZRH
ZRH - MAD
How many miles per segment?...
WAW-ZRH: 1280 (200% of 640)
ZRH-MAD: 1542 (200% of 771)
Total: 2822
Minimum miles would only apply if the distance flown would be less than 500 miles (per segment)!

How is what you wrote to the information below.
Business Class J, C, D, Z, P 200% minimum 1000 miles
Thanks.

It's very simple. Many, but certainly not all, FF programs, have a minimum number of miles/points earned, often 500 for coach fares and more for business, when flying partner airlines. In the case of flights on Swiss, A3 gives a minimum of 1000 for business (i.e. 200% of 500 miles) while on Turkish, for example, the minimum for business is only 500. Back to Swiss in business: when the distance flown is below 500 miles, the minimum applies, otherwise it's the miles times 2, as in the example that you brought up.
And coming back to your question, both 1280 and 1542 are certainly more than the 1000 minimum earned: A3's pages are correct!
Needless to point out (but I do, nevertheless ;)), that the rules change from FFP to FFP, from partner airline to partner airline and from fare class flown to fare class flown!

Oh, come on people, let's not labour this: the minimum mileages earned are absolutes, not factors. The accrual factors are the factors.

Thanks for the steer. I have a SIN-KUL sector in Y later this week so I can provide empirical evidence on the lack of SQ minimums.

I can confirm this as well as my answer in a previous post. UA A fare class ORD-MSP, actually about 328-334 miles depending on the carrier, earned 1500 status and redeemable miles as expected, which is 300% of the 100% coach fare minimum of 500.

Here is an example: I travelled in Swiss in Business (P) on this route - cph-zrh-ist-zrh-cph and I recieved 1600+2200+2200+1600= 7600 miles. And A3 is very fast at crediting your points unlike some airlines. I am a happy A3 member. :D

Examples from my account:
CHC-AKL on NZ in V: Earns 323
(70% of 461 mi)
-> No minimum in table = no minimum earning
ARN-GOT on SK in Z: Earns 1200
(245 mi, Z earns 200%, minimum 1200)
-> accrual factor is applied to miles first, then compared to minimum
I guess different programmes do differently, but this was exactly what I expected. Hopefully that clears it up for everybody!

KUL-SIN in C posted as 153 x 1.5 = 230 miles. Impressed they arrived within 2 days and over a weekend to boot. ^

Should have been 191 (1.25x in C), shouldn't it?
