You'll get 1,000 bonus AA miles after 4 HH stays within 90 days of signing for this promo. For details either folow the link posted above by LIH Prem, or log into your AA account online (you have to log in as an elite, otherwise you won't see this), then choose NetSAAver and Special Offers - Special Offers - 2002 Platinum Offers.

The codes are AAGE for new HHonors enrollees and AAGU for existing HHonors members, in case you don't want to troll through the other post.

It just amazes me, this site is set up to help those of us that travel alot to make life easier on the road. I'm a gold member and I earned it the hard way, but to not share codes with other travelers is just wrong, I do not know of a single traveler that has not gotten help from someone else, weather is was a hotel cert or an free upgrade, so lets stop the crying about earning it the hard way, and get back to the old way of helping out the american traveler.

Are these codes still valid? I tried to enroll the promotion, but AA kept telling me these codes are invalid. Any one else has the experience.

Also I found the 2002 AA Platinum offer had the offer of "Stay at two different Park Hyatt Hotels in North America and earn 5,000 miles". Do I need to register as well? Is there any promotion code for it?

You need to call HH, not AA, to enroll in this promo.

I would be interested to see if anyone has luck in enrolling with these promotions. I tried to enroll my mom in the AAGE promotions earlier this week and was told it's no longer valid/available.

I enrolled by calling HHonors a month or two back - since AA is still publishing it Hilton should still honour it.

I didn't ask the customer service rep, but my card says it expires 4/2004.

Has anyone ever had their status downgraded in the system even though their card still shows as valid? I wonder which takes precedence in this case.

Can one obtain Gold status, or extend Gold status, by registering for the promotions on-line, rather than call the toll-free number?

I've seen from posts here that some targetted promotions require registration on the web.

For this particular Gold + 50K for 4 stays promo, you must call HH to register. (If it's still valid)

All the other free upgrade to Gold benefit from airlines must be registered by phone.

Hi, thanks to this website, I just got promoted to Gold, using the promo code AAGU (registered yesterday).
I will get all the perks starting tomorrow for my stay at the Hilton on Connecticut av. in DC, and next month in Vegas and Paris, France (hope it works in France though).

As far as my information goes AAGU and AAGE were originaly targetted promotions from American Airlines to award their loyal customers with free HHonors Gold status. Since HHonors doesn't seem to check or care about the background of anybody requesting the AAGU/E promotion, many people (including me) have been able to use it to get Gold Status without meeting the normal requirements. It does NOT get you 50000 bonus points, and in reality their aren't any requirements you have to meet to qualify other than you picking up the phone and requesting the promo (officially you of course have to be part of the targetted group, but this is not checked by HHonors). BTW AAGU is for exsisting HHonors members AAGE for new members.

The promotion that involves the 50000 bonus points is CNTU. After enrollment (call HHonors and tell them you want to enroll in the CNTU promotion) you have to achieve 4 stays over the next 90 days and you get bonus points. Use the search feature of this forum to get more detailed information (like if CNTU is still an active promotion).

Guys, I have been comped GOLD for FOUR YEARS in a row in spite of having almost NO Hilton stays. I always feel a little guilty about my Hilton Gold status, but Hilton Gold is basically given away with top tier status on various airlines....

Anyway, I think there's very little dilution of benefits because I simply don't use my Gold status that often -- though Hilton wins something, because if there isn't a Hyatt or Marriott where I'm going, I will next try Hilton (in fact, these days I will often go to Hilton over Marriott...)

CNTU is still available if you get the right customer service representative. Keep calling back till you find someone who will do it. I just signed up the other day. You must have your stays completed by November 30th though.

OK, just a comment for those who thinks they won't be able to make their CNTU's 4 stays by the end of this year...there's help.

The Hilton HHonors Platinum American Express application stated that upon approval, you're automatically a Silver HHonors member. AND, you can earn HHonors Gold VIP status after only four qualifying stays within 90 days of Card activation.

So it's like the CNTU promo but:
a) valid anytime you feel like applying for the card
b) no 50K bonus points.

While this isn't extravaganza, it's just an option for those who only cares about the status.

Maybe that relates to why I suddenly got a Gold card. I have had the Amex card for years with associated Silver. Suddenly I got a Blue card in the mail (this spring) stating that I didn't have enough stays for silver but could retain it with X number of stays....

Then a few weeks later I suddenly get a Gold card in the mail. I think I had one stay between the notices. Strange.........

This is what's happening to me at Hilton for years. I get comped Gold, then get a Silver card because I don't have enough stays with some sort of Gold challenge, I never do the challenge, and get the Gold card again about six weeks later.

Really, I'm not THAT important. Don't understand it...

Only time I stay at Hiltons are when they have these HUGE bonuses.

i'm new to this board (also posted this on hyatt board)...it amuses me that people think they EARN status...it's my opinion that you only earn status if you pay for your stay, not your company...(my company pays for me)...in my early years i was comped status in both the hilton and hyatt programs (now i don't need to to this)..this kept me loyal to both programs, as i still use both hotels today...bottom line is,good for you if you can improve your status and make a buisness trip or family vacation better!.....most of my coworkers agree!

Called a few minutes ago and was told that since I'm already Gold they would extend my status until 4/2004 with promo AAGU. No stays involved.

I'll confirm too that AAGU is still active on 10/23/2002. Just called the 800#, asked the CSR to sign me up for the AAGU promo and gave my HHonors #, he didn't ask for my AA#, and 60 seconds later the HHonors website shows me upgrade from Silver to Gold.

Both my wife and I were told from two seperate agents that this did not extend our already gold 4/03, but they put it in.

Am in same spot as my Canadian counterpart, Nova. Saw this thread a while ago, called and asked to be signed up for this promo code and was told it was done. Waited a few days and checked online and still says Blue. Am getting an inferiority complex as it's worked for almost everyone else.

I'm also in Canada (kinda obvious from the user name). I called HHonors a week and a half ago for the AAGU promo, and my status was changed to GOLD VIP on the website within minutes.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I called to add the code to a family member's account three days ago, and it still says "Silver VIP" and not Gold. I will try again, I guess. One thing I did note, though, is that the CSR asked me "Did you receive this promo code in the mail" to which I had no choice but to respond affirmatively http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Persistance pays off. Called Hilton HHonors customer service desk that shows on the website as U.S. only, but still works from Canada, and they found the original agent I had input the AAGU code hadn't done something right. So the nice man fixed it and sure enough, just logged on to the web and does show as gold member. Viva FT !

Those of you who are not eligible for these codes should only use them if you intend to stay regularly with Hilton, as abuse of these codes costs the airline; and ruins it for frequent fliers. The benefits for those of us who have legitimately earned them are jeopardised by people hijacking these codes, in this case those of the AAdvantage Program. If you doubt what I am saying, kindly note that Air Canada's Aeroplan program removed all hotel program comps from its 2002 year top tier benefits.

I have posted this before, and I will post this again: <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Not to sound negative, but for every one of us that posts here, there are several multiples more that read our posts. Part of the reason so many people have the Gold comps is because the codes get leaked. Don't get me wrong, I am all for sharing them with fellow flyertalkers, but I would encourage everyone to post "e-mail me for the code" messages as opposed to posting the codes themselves on the internet. Hilton has had to end some wonderful offers because of internet leaks, some arguably attributed to Flyertalk posts.</font>

I guess that I am in the same situation. I registered and nothing happened. I also thought it was because I was Canadian.

* went to check on line and could not get in, so I asked to have password sent etc and got in
* saw that I am now GOLD VIP
* changed password and received 500 point bonus for updating profile
* filled in missing stay request to add previous stay to file
* called Hilton back to add membership number to reservation for next month

* Total time spent - 10 minutes - hoping to see what upgrade I get for my anniversary stay.

I just called in & the very nice lady said she didn't see a change & didn't see my Gold being extended through 2/2004. I guess I'll try back in a day or two...

On the plus side, while talking to her, I told her about the great stay I had at the Doubletree Sacramento & the bad experience I had at the Hilton Concord, & at the end of the call, she said she was going to give me 3,000 points for my inconvience at the Concord. Didn't expect anything or ask for anything, but that is a very nice feature customer service has at it's fingertips - heck, just her apology was nice to hear - sure didn't hear one from the Concord Hilton!

Confirmed status extended - my new HHonors gold card states exp date of 4/2004.

Just tried it (AAGU) and they said it was not valid for extending current golds - only for nongolds who stayed 4 times in 90 days.

Just a quick voice of support for Fly Boy.

A little controlled sharing is OK, but be discreet and don't get greedy.

In addition to all of the points raised uptopic, anyone who has been following developments in the US Air section should also understand that this stuff *does* come back around in the end if it is abused.

It is not a promotion. It is a negotiated benefit for American Airlines AAdvantage Executive Platinum and Platinum members. If you want details: log into your AAdvantage account on www.aa.com (http://www.aa.com) put your pointer over "Net SAAvers and Special Offers" then click "Special Offers" when it appears click on "2002 Executive Platinum Offers" or equivilent
A list will give you details about the various benefits. Please do not post these codes online - abuse of these benefits by ineleigible people could result in their removal from next years program.

However, it looks like the telephone agents at AAdvantage, or telephone customer service for AA.com, do not know of 1) the promotion is still valid (as I indicated, the AA.com agent said that the promotion had expired). The agent, and the supervisor could not find it, on the web site. Is it possible that they clicked on the regular part of the web site, without adding a password - the Platinum offers are not available, until one logs in, using one's Platinum (password).

Last week, AAGU from a European number seems difficult (too many questions).
So I try again this week by the American number, being a few days in California. In 30 secondes, and without question, AAGU works, and I am now Gold.
But What is the interest of Gold compared to Silver ?

bousquet: If you are not an AA Exec Platinum or Platinum member you are not eligible for the offer, which is probably why you faced complications. I am glad to hear the European contact centre is asking questions - I only hope the US one will do the same. Many cards have exp. dates in 2005, but the benefits expire in 2004. You may want to check that with HHonor. HH expects you to actually earn Gold after the first year. It is not a renewable offer.

When did you get Gold? If you obtained it in 2003, then you should be OK until 2005.

The aagu offer expired in February, and there is no new one, according to the CSR I spoke with. Anyone disagree?

I added NWPE to my account (4 stays for Gold, NW).

I was told FTG1 was an expired 2001 offer.
