JAL Mileage Bank - Baggage claim if I have 19 layover in NRT

I've already redeemed AAdvantage miles to fly on JAL from LAX - NRT - KUL.
However, I have a 19 hours long layover in NRT before flying to destination KUL (kuala lumpur, malaysia).

Since I'm holding Malaysia passport and I have no Japan visa, I would be just stay at the airport without going through immigration.

Just wondering, would I be able to check my check-in luggage all the way from LAX to KUL without having to claim my luggage at NRT?

Thank you!

Yeah sure, when you check in, they will ask you if you want your luggage checked all the way to KL.

You are planning to stay airside all night in NRT? That won't be very comfortable :(

If I remember correctly NRT shuts down after last arrival and you Have to enter Japan regardless. You may ask for a shore pass (transit visa) upon arrival but apply a visa before hand should be more approximate.

That's mean I could just stay at the airside without going through immigration? I'm planning to stay in the dayroom at the terminal 2 .

Mr. Fung was not completely airside as I recall, he was in the limbo area before immigration and before security to go airside. I'm not sure if the OP would be allowed airside since his ticket is for the following day.

The dayrooms available by rental close overnight and don't open until 7am. I would strongly encourage the OP to look into a transit visa. Hotels in Narita town, a 5min train ride away, are plentiful and relatively inexpensive.

I think the dayrooms don't open until 0700 or 0730. You're much better getting a shore pass and getting a hotel room.

I understand that I could request shore pass and stay overnight in Narita hotel. But since I'm holding a Malaysian passport and have no Japan tourist visa. Do you think American Airline will allow me to board the plane from LA to Japan without holding a visa? Japan is not my final destination, I'm connecting to Kuala Lumpur.

I think if the OP has some concern over whether AA will even allow them to board the flight, the first step would be to clarify that point with AA and perhaps also with the embassy of Japan in Malaysia. I wouldn't rely on anything the internet tells you.

However, I personally would not transit a country without a visa for leaving the airport if it were necessary - you never know what can happen.

Please apply for a visa...It doesn't cost you any money (as a Malaysian to get a Japanese visa). Just the time and paper work required to go to the Japanese embassay
