Club Carlson - Taxes & Fees on Award Stays

Can someone who has booked Club Carlson award stays (outside the US) confirm whether taxes and hotel fees are payable to the hotel in addition to the points for the award booking?
For other hotel chains that is not the case normally, but I have never booked a Carlson award and was stumped by my confirmation for an award night in India, which indicates that the cost would be XXXXX Gold Points Plus applicable Fees and Taxes.*
Further down in the confirmation there is another piece of weasel text "*The subtotal above is an estimate only and does not represent the full amount for your stay. Additional charges, taxes, and fees may apply. The actual total will be provided to you at check-out upon request."
So I am wondering whether I should bail or not, given the uncertainty here.

It says so but I have booked a couple of award stays in India and in each case I did not pay a single penny extra other than gold points. In some cases thought at tourist places in case of events like Christmas or new year, they might have a mandatory taxes.

I can confirm that I did not have to pay anything out of pocket on an award stay for my stay at the Park Plaza in Bangkok.

What did the hotel say when you called to ask?
This has nothing to do with the particular program, rather it has to do with the specific destination. There are jurisdictions which do impose taxes on award stays and that is why it's disclosed to you. Not "weasel" just reality.
Here in the USA for instance, Hawaii imposes a per night tax on awards.
Let us know what answer you get on your call.

Nope. The hotels may have to pay something but I haven't with SPG, Hyatt, Marriott.

I've redeemed over 2 million Radisson points over the past 2 years staying at various properties in NA and Europe. I have never once paid any additional taxes or charges directly for staying the room.
I'm fairly sure the reason they put this disclaimer is for legal purposes. If you were to stay at the hotel and use pay parking services, or use room service, or use the mini-bar, etc. and receive incidental charges, that line is there to be a disclaimer that the point stay does not cover those charges. Basically a "cover their butt" line, if you will.
