Le Club Accorhotels - Booking Accor hotel but through different site?

I'm about to make booking with a Mercure hotel but found a cheaper rate on a different well know site other than at accorhotels.com

As I have given up on A-Club after been degraded to Silver from platinum, my other half is holding on to her Gold Status and was wondering how this would work when booking through a different site?

I have always used accorhotels.com directly but can save ok with money through a different site so will of course go this way this time. Do I contact the hotel after my booking and tell them about her Gold Status OR do we just tell them when we check in? Will they accept the AC-G card (or rather number as the card has not arrived yet) even when booked through a different site?

Any pointers are (as always) highly appreciated ^

Thanks,

Cupart

Dear Silverman :D;)
Unfortunately, booking through 3rd party sites usually do not give any points and status benefits. BTW, this is the case for most hotel programs.
I wish you regain at least a gold status in Accor in 2012 !

In addition evidence seems to indicate that Accor's Best Price Guarantee (BPG) is not worth the effort. I don't think I have actually ever heard of a successful application of the BPG, even when rates are lower elsewhere.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I decided to book directly through Accorhotels.com in the end as it usually works out best... ^

Booking via a cashback site and then direct with Accor is the way I always book, and it's often 16% cashback on Sofitels. So whilst it may appear to cost more, the cashback and points make it worthwhile.

Pardon my ignorance but can you develop and explain what is a cashback site ?
Thanks
