This flows from my earlier post about bad wifi connectivity in the Swiss JFK lounge in T4:

Does anybody know why Swiss, which effectively has been for a long time a division of Lufthansa, remains in T4 while LH is in T1 ? With all of 3 flights a day and since this has gone on for several years, it can't be a matter of terminal capacity or still be the result of a rental contract. I thought about multiplying the * Alliance connections inside each terminal for LX and LH but there does not seem to be any obvious opportunity, given the flight times, which would offset the cost of running 2 separate lounges.

Any idea or known reason?

LX has been for a while in T1 with LH. This was even worse because of lack of space.
The main problem in T4 is the lounge landside. But the service of LX people is great. They bring HON and F pax through security very effectively. As most of the Duty free shops now are airside, I have asked them to pass security with them earlier than usual. But they managed a much better solution, as I was there quite ahead of the departure time: they brought me through security immediately after check-in, waited while I shopped there, accompanied me back to the landside lounge and finally again through security to the gate just on time for boarding. Compliments to SWISS!

LX tried this 2 years ago I think, they were there for a very short time..i dont know why they decided not to stay in T1, space could have been the issue, also *A airlines flying out of T4 would have been inconvenienced big time

Good question, I also wonder why they stick to the "crappy Airlines Terminal 4 ( NYC cabby slang ). Maybe they want to be as far as possible away from UA;)

LX did try to move under the same T1 roof with LH, but there were very serious space constraints, most importantly on the taxiways to/from the gates. This lead to substantial taxi delays for arriving and departing LX flights, and in the end the operational decision was taken to return to T4 for better on-time performance.

Personally, I really find T4 quite acceptable.

correct (airoli is always correct ...), that is what LX posted themselves years ago.

DL are doing a lot of work at T4

I know that the VS CH is being moved to airside so maybe there are plans to move the LX lounge airside as well?

There was also a major issue with de-icing at T1. I personally love T4 and hope they never go back to T1, which was a nightmare

Now that Delta will move a majority of the operations to T4 after the expansion plans are completed we possibly have all the Sky Team members such as AF, KE, SU and AF move to T4 to have the Sky Team airlines together. This would free up capacity and would allow LX to move back to T1.
