Does anyone know if/why status upgrades do not filter through bookings made while on a lower tier? For example, I have a number of bookings made a few months ago while silver. The first sector was completed a few days ago and silver was printed on my boarding pass despite having gold status (was silver when booked the flight). it didn't impact seat selection as I was traveling PE, but the return leg is in Y and the closest I can get to the front is row 9 (first eight rows were completely blocked out 14 days out; didn't expect to get row 3 but thought a little closer to the front would be possible???)

So I'm assuming that in the absence of a phone call to the GCC, the system will continue to treat me as silver for these (long-dated) bookings. Would this be correct?

Also, even though the itineraries state 23kg checked baggage, will i still get 32kg as per current status?

Anyone else with similar experiences?

You will need to put in a call to Velocity to fix this.
If you are now Gold, your boarding pass...irrelevant of what status you were when you booked, should be printed Gold.

Generally with seat assignments, a lot of times it also depends on how many business seats or Platinum members are travelling on the aircraft (and which aircraft it is)

As Gold, sometimes I get offered Row 12, sometimes Row 3 (but on average it is Row 4)...so as you were showing Silver status..Row 9 is to be expected...however as you are Gold, for some reason the system has a glitch with your bookings and should be seated a fraction higher (but again, depending on sector, flight time, other people travelling)

If you show your Gold card, you will have no issues with the higher baggage limits on check in.

Thanks for the advice Jinxy. Was all fine at the airport - no probs with luggage allowance and got offered an earlier flight at check-in which we gladly accepted (added bonus was free upgrade to PE).

Fantastic re the PE upgrade...what were your overall thoughts?

Hey Jinxy, upgrade to PE was great. It included the free menu choices, which was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting it to be seat-only given we were being moved to an earlier flight. Only glitch was that our bags were tagged priority but came out in the last third of bags. But given we had made up half an hour, an extra minute or two at the airport wasn't significant.

Overall, it was another example of the higher standard of service that has been evident over the past 9 months.
