Gaming Loyalty Programs - Borgata stingy with rooms

If you're looking for a casino that will treat you well, Borgata is LAST PLACE you should go to. Its nice and clean and they have good restaurants but they don't take care of you unless you lose a ton of money everytime you go.

I usually play around $2,000 - $3,000 each visit (win or lose), and even after earning my Black Label, i wasn't getting free rooms on weekends. I would have to pay a discounted price on weekends. One weekend, i ended up losing about $6,000. After that, I got rooms comped anytime i wanted, didn't have to reserve in advance, they were giving me floral suits and water club rooms. Then, on the next visit, i won $2,000 and i wasn't getting free rooms anymore and went back to having to pay on fridays and saturdays. I thought this was ridiculous considering I lost wayyyy more than I won and considering i had close to $2,000 in comp dollars... What really ticked me off was that, last weekend i was there playing blackjack for 3 days, lost about $10,000 and wanted to stay an extra night and extend my play, I checked the website site and it said I had to pay for the extra night which was a Tuesday. I thought this was ridiculous considering I just lost $10,000 and would have to pay $200 for a room on a Tuesday and i asked the floor manager if i could get a room comped to stay an extra night. He goes to check and comes back to me applogized that I would have to pay for the extra night eventhough I just gave them $10,000, and funny thing is, he felt bad for me too. This really pissed me off.

I don't know the exact details and formula of their comp system but from experience, it doesn't matter if you have black card or red card. They seem to have some sort of formula that calculates losing vs winning and give out rooms based on that. My friend just signed up for Red card and lost $5,000 one night and she is able to get rooms comped any day (floral suites and water club).

If you're not losing a TON of money, you won't get rooms comped. Even if you lose a ton of money and you win some back next time, despite your overall loses are way higher than you winnings, you won't get rooms comped until you lose again. Only other perk of having Black card is access to some Black label exclusive bars and resaurants having a seperate Black label line for it but then, every restaurant has a really looooong black label line during busy hour anyways so its pretty much useless.

I'm done with Borgata. I know i can get treated ALOT better at any other casino in North-East than Borgata with the amount i spend. They just lost a on average $50k/year client because they wouldn't give me a room on a Tuesday night after losing $10,000. I play regularly at Borgata, but only play slots. (I also play in the "Harrah system" of casinos). From my understanding of things (as pertained to slots) it is not how much you win and/or lose, it is how much you cycle through the machine(s) that they look at. Since the slots are "programmed" to pay out on average a fixed amount, they (casinos in general) can give slot players better deals (=comps) than table gamers.
Except for the buffet and a few bars, most of the restaurants don't have black label lines but are by reservation.
I only play penny slots (full "coin" = $2.50 to $4 per "pull") and from the beginning (about a year after they opened) my room offers have been 2 nights per week (Fri. and Sat. nights included) every week and lately suites even on the weekend.
Do you have a "host"? She/he can secure rooms etc. beyond what the computer system is programmed to offer.
To be black label one needs $1000 comp dollars per year--there is a higher level "titanium" which is $10,000 comp dollars--do you know what your annual comp dollar totals run? Based on your play you might be at titanium level which may help in getting better rewards.

It's absolutely ridiculous why Borgata is so stingy with rooms when they are pretty much the only casino in AC actually earning something. I find it incredibly surprising how I can get comped weekend rooms next door (most of the time) at Harrahs Resort while it's almost hard to get one room on Thursdays and onwards at the B comped.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to see what the deal with my host is before I let my Black Label lapse. I am definitely on the same boat you are OP.

Doesn't a host have to invite you to be Titanium? I believe one cannot just ask for it. I could be wrong.
About a year ago I made a general inquiry at the host desk in the high limit area, at the time I had only gotten 5,000 comp dollars--but she said to put in a request, and sometimes after a year or two of having only 5,000 cd's (about half of the official number), sometimes you "get lucky".

Comp is based on THEO not actual win/loss - though a host can look at your play and step in with an exception if you had a quick loss.

Some casinos (in Australia) used to have a quick loss comp for those crazy players that would wash through several thousand in a few minutes that would be an accelerated comp level.

All that matters in the Borgata, or anywhere really in the US if you are relying purely on the automated comp system is THEO.

Formula is:

Average Bet X Hours Played X Game Edge / Point System

Therefore:

A person playing BJ will earn less than a person playing Casino Stud Poker (if the Bet and the Time are equal)

A Person losing 3K in 1hr at $100 average bet on BJ will earn 50% of the comp of a person breaking even for 1hr at $200 average bet.

Borgata's point system is tougher than the other casinos for sure - so playing the same averages in Harrahs etc will likely earn you more comp there than it would at the Borgata.

For example last week I played an Average bet of $500 for 30mins of BJ at Borgata and earned $8 comp dollars...
