At Motel 6, take 20% off select hotel stays booked online via coupon code "CP545874". (Apply the coupon in the box labeled "Corporate Plus/ID Number" on the "Check Room Availability" page.) That ties our March mention as the best coupon we've seen from this chain of discount motels this year.

Thank you, sunk818. I'm afraid I'm not getting 20% at the hotels I've been checking.

I used this code for a few reservations for next week during a drive up the California coast. Not getting 20%, but I am consistently getting 15%.

Found the same for the same area (well, of course). So it works out to 5% off of the "internet only" rate. Well, it is a sandwich at a fast food restaurant. And since discounts other than the internet rate are scarce as hens' teeth at Motel 6, it's better than nothing. And I know the margins to take it out of are tiny.
Now, to the broader point about discounts, this is why I now always check the Choice Hotel family's rates. They often have promotions - points, sales - and even without them, they usually put the lie to Tom's claim that Motel 6s are "always the lowest price of any national chain".
Cards on the table: I remember when all Motel 6s were $6/night, and it was a BIG deal when they went up to $6.66. :D (They did allow my family to hit the road, and materially helped nurture the travel bug.)
[I don't have anything to do with Choice hotels, except to stay in them way too often.]

Speaking of Motel 6, I'm quite impressed by their new clean renovated rooms with wooden floors, granite counter, free WiFi, and flat-screen TVs. I happened to stay in 2 of the new Motel 6's in CA and loved my stay.

That really is tremendous, travelerjim. The only other Motel 6 that I remember that had a free airport shuttle was the LAX one. And at the ones where I stay, the wifi is always $2.99. Have to remember this one. Thank you. ^

I notice that several of the new Motel 6s listed in the website claim fridges in every room. Nice. Wonder if this is the coming thing. It is cheaper for them than Accor's 21st century makeover that so many franchisees continue to fight. Might even deserve a new thread here -- it is special in a Motel 6 kind of way.

Which would probably be about as popular with franchisees as renovating their rooms to the new eurostyle. The excuse for not doing these things, and it's genuine, is the very thin margins they must operate on to continue to claim that they're "always the lowest price of any national chain". But, often as not, they're not anymore. The Choice Hotels family, which caters to the same market and demographic, and has Choice Privileges, has got to be cutting into their business. It turned my head for the times I need a very inexpensive stay.

80%. At least it seemed that way when they first converted over to the new lightbulbs. (Not unique to Motel 6s, though. But all have gotten better, IMO, with the newer lights that don't have to warm up.) In fact, it seemed that way with the original fluorescent ones in the bathrooms, too.

I'm not impressed by Motel 6. And I'm not impressed by the post that said "11% off" but then when you try it -- it comes out to a higher rate than the "10%" off rates. Must be some smart a$$ Motel 6 executive.

The thing is, those newer Eurostyle rooms really are MUCH nicer than the standard Motel 6 fare prior to these newly designed ones. I certainly think they are worth a $15-20 a night premium (which seems to be typical) vs. old un-renovated dumpy Motel 6 rooms, and IMHO, they definitely make them nicer than the less costly Choice Hotel offerings.
I'd certainly choose a ~$59 new-style Motel 6 room vs. a ~low $40s old-style one when the choice exists.

You have a good point, flyboy60. They are much nicer, except in my experience, in the bathroom, specifically the same old shower and tub/shower issues.
A question for those who stay in Motel 6 frequently: What is the penetration of the new eurostyle at the moment? Has the concept finally caught on? It's now been years since it was introduced, along with the "Refreshed" label in the directory for the properties that resisted. I actually used to carry one of them in the car, but it's been about three years since I started doing the Choice Privileges free-stay-for-every-two-paid-stays promos. Thank you. :)
